Start Em Sit Em 2016 Week 1

Start Em Sit Em 2016 Week 1 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Like other fantasy prognosticators, below are my Start ‘ Em & Sit ‘ Em players, minus the obvious. ( No one needs to read that I think fantasy football owners should start RB Todd Gurley this week at home vs San Francisco ) For the Record- I don’t claim to have anymore insight on the games than the fantasy league owners reading these, but I do enjoy sharing my “IMOs” on them, as well as reading yours :) Good Luck this week!

NFL Week 1

Quarter Backs
Start ‘Em

OAK Derek Carr (at N.O.) – Even with DC Rob Ryan ousted, Saints have to prove that they have improved. Carr has weapons and will post nice numbers Week 1

PITT Ben Roethlisberger (at WASH ) – Big Ben is dependable regardless of the match up. Be interesting to see who he prefers in his receiving corps after Antonio Week 1 ( WR Eli Rogers climbed into starting line up)

TB Jameis Winston (at ATL ) – These two teams currently rank at the bottom of defenses, so both quarterbacks should make fantasy football owners happy

ATL Matt Ryan (at TB ) – These two teams currently rank at the bottom of defenses, so both quarterbacks should make fantasy football owners happy

other notable QB starts: DET Matthew Stafford @ IND

Running Backs
Start ‘Em

KC Spence Ware (vs SD) – Ware scored a TD in each of the 3 preseason games he played, and Week 1 will be 4 in a row. ( RB J Charles likely won’t even dress)

PHIL Ryan Mathews (vs CLEV) – Facing perhaps the worst defense in the NFL, Mathews should get plenty of opportunities even with QB Carson Wentz at the helm

TB Doug Martin (at ATL) – Likely a high scoring game with two of the worst defenses facing each other

ATL Devonta Freeman (vs TB ) – Likely a high scoring game with two of the worst defenses facing each other

PITT DeAngelo Williams (at WASH) – This guy produced every time he asked to at the end of 2015

NO Brainer: HOU Lamar Miller vs CHI

other notable RB starts: OAK L Murray, GB Eddie Lacy, MINN AP, IND F Gore

Wide Receivers
Start ‘Em

KC Jeremy Maclin (vs SD) – Maclin and QB A Smith have always been on the same page

GB Jordy Nelson & Randall Cobb (at JACK ) – The Jags tried to drastically improve their defense, but if preseason was any indication, it did not improve much. We’ll see

DET Golden Tate ( at IND ) – QB Stafford and WR Tate should burn the IND Def at least once

IND TY Hilton (vs DET) – QB Luck and WR Hilton should burn the DET Def at least once. Many fantasy prognosticators think WR Moncrief could take over as Luck’s favorite target, but I think it will remain Hilton

HOU WR Will Fuller ( vs CHI)- QB Brock Osweiler loves all three of his WRs, and we know WR D Hopkins will do well, but Osweiler raves about Fuller- ( UPDATE: Will Fuller (hamstring) was limited at Wednesday’s practice)

No Brainers: OAK Amari Cooper at N.O., TB Mike Evans at ATL, JACK Allen Robinson

other notable WR starts: WASH DeSean Jackson vs PITT

sleepers: CAR Ted Ginn Jr, BALT Kamar Aiken, TENN Tajae Sharpe, HOU WR Braxton Miller IF Fuller is limited or doesn’t play

Tight Ends
Start ‘Em

PHIL Zach Ertz (vs CLEV) – The best security blanket for a rookie QB is a tight end as talented as Zach Ertz

SF Vance McDonald ( vs LAR)- McDonald made some nice plays in the preseason, and with journeyman WR J Kerley listed now as the #1 receiver, Vance may be QB Gabbert’s best option

TENN Delanie Walker ( vs MINN )- Targeted 133 times in 2015. Walker is the #1 target in TENN

other notable TE starts: PITT Jesse James at WASH

Defense
Start ‘Em

LA Rams (at SF ) – QB Blaine Gabbert

Houston (vs CHI) – QB Jay Cutler can’t help but throw 2 picks a game. ( betcha one goes for a DEF TD)

Dallas (vs NYG) – The Giants O-Line looked atrocious in the preseason, and I think it is the worst in the NFL. Dallas will give QB Eli Manning fits and will likely shut down RB R Jennings

other notable DEF starts: PHIL vs CLEV

Quarter Backs
Sit ‘Em

DEN Trevor Siemian ( vs CAR)- True test for the Bronco QB, but it will be rough on him….Game Plan- hand off!

MIA Ryan Tannehill (at SEA) – You might have to start him and Tannehill might put up some decent stats, just from the volume of passes that he is likely to make, but I’d prefer another option at QB this week

CHI Jay Cutler (at HOU) – Cutler’s INTs and fumbles vs a good defense, will likely wash out a lot of his positive stats in this game. JJ Watt due back

CLEV RG3 (at PHIL) – Let’s see how he does in the regular season before we start RG3, and it’s an away game

No Brainers: MINN Shaun Hill at TENN, NE Jimmy Garoppolo at ARI, SF Blaine Gabbert vs LAR

Running Backs
Sit ‘Em

BALT RBs  ( at BUFF) – Justin Forsett was released, then resigned, but this is a murky backfield and I wouldn’t start any of them until it shakes out- RBBC

MIA A Foster/ Jay Ajayi (at SEA) – The match up is terrible, but Foster might get something, but I wouldn’t sit many running backs for either of these guys Week 1

CAR Jonathon Stewart (at DEN) – Barely touched the ball in the preseason, and he’ll be rusty. Two of the best defenses face each other

WASH Matt Jones (vs PITT) – Better receiver out of the backfield, than he is a power runner…maybe he scores that way?? ( Note: Matt Jones (shoulder) practiced without his yellow non-contact jersey Wednesday )

JACK RB Chris Ivory- Ivory (calf, questionable) is expected to play Week 1 against the Packers but will be on a snap count. With this injury and limited action, Ivory is a Sit Em candidate-

Wide Receivers
Sit ‘Em

CHI Kevin White (at HOU ) – Talented young wide receiver out all of 2015, and we do not know if there is chemistry with QB Cutler yet

NE Ju Edleman & Chris Hogan (at ARI) – We don’t know how HC Belichick plans to try and win this game, but I doubt either of these 2 WRs end up with great stats

DEN Dem Thomas & Emmanuel Sanders (vs CAR ) – I’d wait a week for DEN Trevor Siemian to get real reps, and face IND Colts Week 2

N.O. WRS (vs OAK) – This is a pretty good OAK secondary, and someone will emerge for the Saints with good stats for Week 1….but who?

Tight Ends
Sit ‘Em

MIA Jordan Cameron (vs Seattle) – He’s done nothing since becoming a Dolphin in 2015

TB Austin Seferian-Jenkins (vs ATL)- Some websites are listing him as #1 on the TE depth chart, but the Bucs like TE Cameron Brate alot better, and so do I

BUFF Charles Clay (at BALT) – The Ravens were 3rd best at defending the tight end position in 2015

SEA TE Jimmy Graham- NFL Network reports Jimmy Graham (knee) will play Sunday versus Miami, but will not play a full complement of snaps.

Defense
Sit ‘Em

WASH (vs PITT) – Steelers will score plenty in this game IMO

SD ( vs KC )- The Chiefs will run a lot, and do high percentage passes all day

No Brainers: ATL vs TB, TB at ATL

Good Luck Week One!

Panic or Dont Panic Week 7

Panic or Dont Panic Week 7 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

We are heading into Week 8 and plenty of fantasy owners have players on their rosters that they have held onto this entire season, who are potential breakout players or just dead weight.  MINN WR Mike Wallace is a great example, and a player I suggested cutting bait from just this morning to Shannon H. Hopefully this article will help you decide on a few of your players, if you agree with my assessments.

PANIC!

QBs

MINN Teddy Bridgewater- “Teddy” has had one good week all season, which was his last game Week 7. He threw for 316 yards with 2 TDs, and 0 INTs. Has he turned it around? Only if he can play Detroit every week, which he can’t, so no, I don’t think he does.

SF Colin Kaepernick- 6 TD passes in 7 games. Not only should he be off fantasy rosters, but off NFL rosters. Hard to believe that he once led a team to the Superbowl. There are 31 other QBs I’d rather have.

N.O. Drew Brees- Only 8 TD passes this season and he can’t throw it deep down field. Brees is a roster QB to be started these days based on the match up.

RBs

NYG Rashad Jennings- Week 7 saw the RBBC situation in New York go from bad to worst, with the emergence of yet another RB getting touches- RB Orleans Darkwa. A team with 4 RBs is a team with none for fantasy owners. I don’t want any of them.

All DET RBs- It is bad enough that the team runs a RBBC, but now the team is playing bad, led by a bad head coach.

CJ Anderson-  ( 0 TDs ) this season, and it looks like RB Hillman will take over soon. Package Anderson to the fantasy owner with Hillman if you can.

SD Melvin Gordon- Only one game with over 51 yards rushing and 0 TDs. Add fumbling problems (i.e. a benching ) to those horrible stats and you have panicking fantasy owners.

WRs

Note: None of my Week 4 “Panic WRs” have rebounded. LINK

PITT Markus Wheaton-  The “more talented” #2 WR is back from suspension ( WR Martavis Bryant)- I’m dropping Wheaton in all leagues because I like WRs on the waiver wire better

ATL Leonard Hankerson- I was one of the first to push owners towards Hankerson, and now I want to push them away. Roddy complained about touches and Hank has a hammy.

N.O. Brandon Cooks- His great match ups came and went, and you got one good game out of him. The trouble is, Brees can’t throw it down field anymore. If someone thought Cooks was going to break out in the 2nd half and offered me a deal, I’d probably take it, to help another position on my fantasy team.

SF WRs- A Boldin and Torrey Smith can’t be started unless you are in the deepest of leagues

TEs

MIA Jordan Cameron- Few targets from QB Tannehill and brutal match ups on the horizon.

IND TEs Allen/ Fleener- Why did IND QB A Luck decide to stop throwing to his TEs? After 7 games in 2014…Fleener/Allen 520 yds-8 TDs. This season after 7 games…286 yds-2 TDs combined.

SF Vernon Davis- He should not be on anyone’s roster

DON’T PANIC!

QBs

CAR Cam Newton- He threw for only 269 yards Week 6, and for only 197 yards Week 7. ( Plus 5 INTs in those 2 games.) These games were against SEA & PHIL…great defenses. Except for the Packers Week 9, Newton has tasty match ups ROS

IND Andrew Luck- You could PANIC! some for the next 3 weeks because of the 2 difficult match ups and the Bye, but his final 7 weeks will make you very happy.

RBs

Note: ALL of my Week 4 “Don’t Panic RBs” have rebounded. LINK

GB Eddie Lacy- In 2014 Lacy had only 4 TDs in his first 8 games. Then he poured it on in the 2nd half, 9 TDs in the second 8 games. His coming back from the bye healthier

BUFF LeSean McCoy- ( Bye Week 8) – Patient fantasy owners were rewarded with almost 200 total yards and 1 TD Weeks 6 & 7. The bye will heal up McCoy to almost 100% and good match ups coming up in the schedule.

WRs

ARI Michael Floyd- Floyd had a hand injury for the first few weeks, but he’s been a real red zone target for QB Palmer the past 2 weeks. As L Fitz cools down, Floyd should heat up.

TB Mike Evans- Evans came through for fantasy owners in Week 7 with 164 yards and 1 TD. In his prior 4 games, he had 174 yards and 0 TDs total. Rookie QB Winston is going to take time to hone his skills. Evans ( and V Jax) stats will improve as Winston improves.

PHIL Jordan Matthews- ( Bye Week) Reports out of Philly are that Matthews suffered a ligament injury in his hand three weeks ago, but that the hand injury “supposedly” is no longer an issue. Matthews was plagued with “drops’ going into Week 7, but still was averaging a whopping 9 targets a game. The Bye rest should do Matthews and his hand some good.

TEs

N.O. Ben Watson- Waiver Wire Recommendation Week 1– QB Drew Brees likes to throw to his tight ends, so why it took so long for hi to discover Ben Watson is confusing. Finally in Week 6, 127 yards and 1 Td on 12 targets. Watson will have a better 2nd half. Don’t Panic.

SD Ladarius Green- TE A Gates came out of the Gates with a with a 92 yard-2 TD game Week 5. He is now shelved (MCL) so TE Green will see all of the TE action vs great match ups Week 8 at BALT and Week 9 vs CHI, before their Bye.

NFL Waiver Wire Week 8

Waiver Wire Week 8 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

I’ll preface this Week 8 article by stating that this is not a great week to improve your fantasy team with NFL Waiver Wire Week 8 pick ups. No real “diamonds in the rough” surfaced for fantasy owners except perhaps the injury to HOU RB A Foster and NYG RB Orleans Darkwa ( in one of the worst RBBC situations in the NFL)

Bye Teams Week 7: BUFF- PHIL- JACK- WASH

Quarterbacks Waiver Wire Week 8

JACK Blake Bortles- Did You Know… only QB Tom Brady has more TD passes this season than JACK B Bortles

CHI Jay Cutler- CHI-DEN-CINN and GB had a bye week 7. Manning, Rodgers and Dalton weren’t dropped for a waiver wire pick up but Cutler may have been. Cutler has a decent match up Week 8 at home vs MINN

Running Backs Waiver Wire Week 8

HOU Alfred Blue- RB Arian Foster is OUT again, leaving the Texans and fantasy owners scrambling for a replacement. In the past it has been RB Blue who has filled in. Week 3 Blue ran 31 times for 139 yards and 1 TD

GB  James Starks- Not unlike SEA M Lynch, fantasy owners who spent a 1st pick on Lacy expected more. Prior to their Week 7 bye, HC McCarthy stated that “We’re a one-two punch team”- It could be a split between the 2 backs ROS

DEN R Hillman- I recommended fantasy owners to grab Hillman in Week 5 – WAIVER WIRE WEEK 5– ESPN is reporting that Ronnie Hillman should operate as the No. 1 back in practice this week

DAL D McFadden- Only because he had such a huge week 7, do I dare put him as a waiver wire suggestion, but I’d have to see more to pick this guy up. We have had RBs on other teams produce big 1 or 2 weeks, only to disappoint a week later especially in RBBC situations- ( DET A Abdullah- CEV Duke Johnson- ARI D Johnson- BUFF K Williams) Remember, this is the same guy that finished 2014 with 155 carries for 534 yards (a 3.4-yard average) and only 2 TDs. Note: Joseph Randle is dealing with an oblique injury- Tough match up Week 8 vs Seattle

Other decent candidates- SD Branden Oliver- The Chargers are tired of rookie RB Melvin Gordon’s fumbling troubles, and benched him Week 6- Branden Oliver rushed 9 times for 35 yards and caught 6-of-7 targets for 39 yards Week 7

NYG RB Orleans Darkwa- As I wrote above, Darkwa is in one of the worst RBBC situations in the NFL

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Week 8

GB Davante Adams– Adams injury had dropped from fantasy rosters a couple weeks ago- Packers coach Mike McCarthy expects Davante Adams (ankle) to be ready for Week 8, and serve as the #3 WR behind Cobb and James Jones- only owned in 52% of fantasy leagues

ATL Roddy White- WR L Hankerson (hamstring) was stealing into White’s production but he’s injured and White should see his targets increase especially with 2 great match ups Weeks 8 & 9 ( TB & SF)

CAR Ted Ginn Jr– Only owned in 7% of fantasy leagues- 102 total yards Week 7 and a nice match up week 8 vs IND

HOU N Washington- This guy isn’t a one week wonder ( Week 7- 127 yards and 2 TDs) Granted, Week 7 was especially good as Miami double teamed WR D Hopkins all day, but Washington has 8 or more targets in every game (4) he’s played this year

Other decent candidates- deep leagues

SEA T Lockett- His speed is forcing the Seahawks to include him on offense, and not just on Special teams- 5/79 yards and 1 TD Week 7

TB Donteea Dye- NFL Network’s is reporting Vincent Jackson (knee) will likely miss Week 8 against the Falcons. Dye caught his 1st career catch Week 7…a 7 yard TD pass

KC Albert Wilson- don’t get too excited, this is KC, the most conservative, predictable offense in the NFL-

ATL WR Justin Hardy- The Falcons’ official website expects fourth-rounder to make his NFL debut in Week 8

Also due back soon- WASH DeSean Jackson

Tight Ends Waiver Wire Week 8

WASH Jordan Reed– QB K Cousins has always looked for his TEs, but WASH has had trouble keeping their TEs healthy. Reed is back and had 72 yards – 2 TDs Week 7

DET Eric Ebron- If you think you can guess when this guy will have good games vs lousy ones, then grab him

Start Em Sit Em Week 7 NFL

Start Em Sit Em Week 7 2015 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Like other fantasy prognosticators, below are my Start Em Sit Em Week 7 2015 players, minus the obvious. ( No one needs to read that I think fantasy owners should start most of the Indy players at home vs #32 ranked New Orleans defense ) For the Record- I don’t claim to have anymore insight on the games than the fantasy league owners reading these, but I do enjoy sharing my “IMOs” on them, as well as reading yours-  Good Luck this week!

Bye Week 7- CHI- CINN- DEN- GB

Quarterbacks Start Em Week 7

SD P Rivers (vs OAK) – Start Rivers every week regardless of the match up, he is the #1 ranked QB in the NFL

DET M Stafford (vs MINN) – Stafford has had a very rough start to the season, but the 1st benching of his career seems to have kicked him into gear finally, throwing for 405 yards & 4 TDs Week 6 ( albeit against Chicago)- I like his match up at home vs MINN

MIA Ryan Tannehill (vs HOU) – All of the Miami players seem to be embracing the new coaching change, and well they should be. Houston’s defense isn’t great this season, so Tannehill should satisfy fantasy owners Week 7

HOU B Hoyer ( at MIA)- Hoyer is averaging 293 yards and 2 TDs in the last 3 games

JACK B Bortles ( vs BUFF in UK)- Did You Know… JACK QB B Bortles is currently the #6 QB in the NFL throwing 138/242 for 1,630 yards- 13 TDs- 7 INTS and averaging 2 TDs- 271 yards a game

Running Backs Start Em Week 7

Mark Ingram ( at IND)- High scoring offenses vs bad defenses leads to nice opportunities for RBs at the goal line, which Ingram gets ( 2 short TD runs Week 6)

IND Frank Gore ( vs N.O.)– Same as above

NE L Blount (vs NYJ)– Blount is moving in the right direction in the NE offense and RB D Lewis isn’t 100%- Despite facing a tough NYJ defense, I predict 2 TDs for Blount Week 7

OAK Lat Murray ( at SD)- The Chargers record is 2-4 because their offense is great, their defense stinks ( 30th vs the run)- Murray should near 20 carries and a nice stat line for Week 7

ARI Chris Johnson (vs BALT)- Fantasy owners may be worried about RB Ellington’s return, but they shouldn’t be. CJ is the starter

Sleeper- Lamar Miller ( vs HOU)- New coaching staff knows the way to win is by a good running game

Wide Receivers Start Em Week 7

PITT M Bryant ( at KC )- Bryant is a special talent ( similar to HOU’s D Hopkins) and teams are throwing all over KC this year

ARI John Brown (vs BALT)- 28 targets in the past 3 games- WR L Fitz is cooling off, Brown is heating up

OAK Amari Cooper ( vs SD)- The Raiders will be spending 4 qtrs trying to keep up w/ the Chargers offense- OAK is rested from their Week 6 BYE

Sleeper- IND Andre Johnson (vs N.O.)- The Saints are #32 vs the pass, so in a high scoring game, AJ will have opportunities

Sleeper- DET Lance Moore ( vs MINN)- TD receptions in his last 2 games- for whatever reason, Stafford seems to be looking for him over G Tate ( who only has 1 TD reception all season)

Tight Ends Start Em Week 7

SD Antonio Gates ( vs OAK)- The Raiders are the worst team vs the TE position- Gates is a great play Week 7

KC T Kelce ( vs PITT)- With WR J Maclin in the league’s concussion protocol, TE Kelce should see even more targets Week 7 ( 0 TDs since Week 1 however)

MIA Jordan Cameron ( vs HOU)- I think new HC Dan Campbell’s 2 goals to kick start this team was 1) Get RB L Miller running 2) Get TE J Cameron involved in the offense- TE Cameron had 0 TDs with HC Philbin- His 1st TD reception Week 6 under HC Campbell

Defense Start Em Week 7

ATL (at TENN)- Even if rookie QB M Mariota suits up (knee), he won’t be close to 100%, and if QB Mettenberger starts, the Falcons will make it rough on him

ST L ( vs CLEV)- The Browns are just a bad team and the Rams are currently the #7 ranked defense

Sleeper  JACK ( vs BUFF in UK)- Buffalo will be playing without a ton of their starters ( QB T Taylor, WRs S Watkins and P Harvin are all OUT Week 7)

HERE’S A GREAT LINK TO ANALYZE DEFENSES- LINK

Quarterbacks Sit Em Week 7

CLEV J McCown ( at ST L)- He’s had some good games this season but DEN made it rough for him Week 6, and ST L will also Week 7

MINN  Teddy Bridgewater (at DET)- The Lions defense hasn’t been playing great ( ranked 29th) but neither has QB Bridgewater ( only 3 TD passes all season )

NYJ Ryan Fitz (at NE )– The Pats won’t completely shut QB Fitz down, but his stats won’t be great ones Week 7 ( NE is 9th vs the pass…..29th vs the run…expect a lot of NYJ RB C Ivory)

QB Colin Kaepernick (vs SEA)- His mid-season renaissance ends Week 7

Running Backs Sit Em Week 7

ALL JACK RBs ( vs BUFF)- The Jags will have to win this game thru the air, rather than relying on 2 back-up RBs with RB Yeldon likely OUT ( D Robinson and T Gerhart)

ALL DET RBs ( vs MINN)–  A team with 4 RBs is a team with none for fantasy owners- NO DET RB has scored a rushing TD since Week 1

KC Chad West ( vs PITT)- I don’t believe KC’s ultra conservative, predictable offense will give RB West enough opportunities to produce for fantasy owners Week 7, especially with sharing carries with RB K Davis and facing PITT’s #5 rush defense

SD Melvin Gordon ( vs OAK)- The Raiders are 7th vs the run, and Gordon’s fumbling issues probably haven’t been fixed in one week

Wide Receivers Sit Em Week 7

SF Torrey Smith ( vs SEA)- Smith is TOO unpredictable and facing SEA

MIA WRS other than J Landry ( vs NYJ)–  One week it’s D Parker, the next K Stills, and the next R Matthews. Too many mouths to feed. I’ll only trust WR J Landry for my fantasy team

DAL Terrance Williams (at NYG)- Even with erratic play at the QB position, Williams as the #1 WR currently in DAL should be putting up better numbers than he has been. Too unreliable. MAYBE new QB M Cassel finds a way to get Williams the ball Week 7, but I don’t win fantasy championships betting on MAYBEs

Tight Ends Sit Em Week 7

IND TEs Allen & Fleener ( vs N.O.)- In only one game this season, has the INDY TEs been a factor, and that was when QB Hasselbeck was starting

PHIL Z Ertz ( vs CAR)- The Panthers are stingy vs opposing TEs and Ertz has 0 TDs this season

Defense Sit Em Week 7

KC Defense ( vs PITT )- The Chiefs can’t stop the pass and won’t be able to stop RB LeVeon Bell

TENN Defense ( vs ATL)– ATL QB Matt Ryan isn’t making many mistakes ( only 4 INTs all season)

NFL Waiver Wire Week 7

NFL Waiver Wire Week 7 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

All of the Week 7 Bye teams have QBs that are likely starters for many fantasy teams, ( Cutler- Dalton- Manning & Rodgers)…also injuries to PITT M Vick and TENN M Mariota…….so getting a one-week replacement is going to more imperative with NFL Waiver Wire Week 7 than it was Week 6…….so don’t wait

Bye Teams Week 7: Chicago- Cincinnati- Denver- Green Bay

Quarterbacks Waiver Wire Week 7

Note: Start by checking the waiver wire for Week 6 Bye QBs that may have been temporarily dropped- OAK QB D Carr- ST L QB N Foles

JACK Blake Bortles- Did You Know… JACK QB B Bortles is currently the #6 QB in the NFL….going 138 of 242 for 1,630 yards- 13 TDs- 7 INTS avg 2 TDs- 271 yds a game

HOU Brian Hoyer- HOU HC O Brien finally decided to officially name Hoyer the starter Week 6 and he produced- 293 yards and 3 TDs- 0 INTS. Mallett won’t likely see the field ROS unless Hoyer is injured

DAL Matt Cassel- Only in very deep leagues should you consider Cassel, but the DAL/Weeden affair is over- Cassel will be the ultimate game manager, but he has weapons

Running Backs Waiver Wire Week 7

DAL Christine Michael- Cowboys RBs coach Gary Brown says the team wants to take the “reins” off Christine Michael and “let him rock.” We’ll have a better idea of how things will shake out during practice in Week 7

GB  James Starks- Not unlike SEA M Lynch, fantasy owners who spent a 1st pick on this guy expected more. Lacy isn’t 100% so owners would be wise to scoop up Starks as a handcuff, as well as RB needy teams- It could be an even split between the 2 backs ROS

DEN R Hillman- I recommended fantasy owners to grab Hillman in Week 5 – WAIVER WIRE WEEK 5– 23 touches Week 6- for 115 total yards

MIA Lamar Miller- new HC Dan Campbell got smash mouth and back to basics by running Miller- some fantasy owners were patient and dropped him- 82% owned

Other decent candidates- SD Branden Oliver- The Chargers are tired of rookie RB Melvin Gordon’s fumbling troubles, and benched him Week 6- Oliver is a capable RB and SD could make a switch if Gordon fumbles again

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Week 7

GB Davante Adams- Adams injury had him hitting the waiver wire a couple weeks ago- He is close to returning and is only owned in 65% of leagues

BALT K Aiken- WR Steve Smith (back) is soon, but QB Flacco can air it out and still needs other weapons. Aiken had only 22 yards Week 6, but he did have a TD reception, his second in then past 3 games

DET WR Lance Moore- 2 TD receptions past 2 games and great match ups week 7 & 8 ( home vs MINN- then at KC)

CAR Ted Ginn Jr- Tough match up Week 6 ( at SEA ) and only 1 reception but don’t give up on him- great ROS and 3 TD receptions in first 4 games

N.O. Willie Snead- Recommended Week 5 on Utter-Fantasy’s Waiver Wire suggestions- WEEK 5 WAIVER WIRE

Other decent candidates-

KC Albert Wilson- don’t get too excited, this is KC, the most conservative, predictable offense in the NFL-

HOU J Strong- WR Cecil Shorts has been ruled out for Week 7 so Strong should see a fair amount of the remaining targets that Hopkins doesn’t get

Also due back soon- NE B LaFell & WASH DeSean Jackson

Tight Ends Waiver Wire Week 7

N.O. Ben Watson- I predicted in the preseason that by Week 2 ….TE  Ben Watson would be the biggest TE pick up on the waiver wire. It took longer than I thought it would, but Brees likes to throw to TEs and he has found his

JACK Julius Thomas- Finally hit the field Week 6 and had 78 yards and 1 TD- Only owned in 57% of fantasy leagues

Start Em Sit Em Week 6 NFL

Start Em Sit Em Week 11 2015 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Like other fantasy prognosticators, below are my Start Em Sit Em Week 6 NFL players, minus the obvious. ( No one needs to read that I think fantasy owners should start QB Aaron Rodgers at home vs San Diego ) For the Record- I don’t claim to have anymore insight on the games than the fantasy league owners reading these, but I do enjoy sharing my “IMOs” on them, as well as reading yours-  Good Luck this week!

Bye Week- Miami- Minnesota- NY Jets- Carolina

Quarterbacks Start Em Week 6

CHI Jay Cutler (at DET) – Cutler avoided his usual 1 INT a game Week 5 at KC, throwing for 252 yards ( 15 rushing) and 2 TD passes. DET’s defense is almost as bad as KC, so you can safely count on similar stats

PHIL Sam Bradford (vs NYG) – This could be a high scoring game with potent offenses and suspect defenses

NYG Eli Manning (at PHIL) – Same as above

BALT Joe Flacco ( at SF)- He hasn’t many weapons but Steve Smith might be back and he faces the 31st worst defense (SF) in the NFL

Sleeper- HOU B Hoyer ( at JACK)- Finally named the starter- Jags are 28th vs the pass

Sleeper- TENN M Mariota (vs MIA)- This could be a good week to start the rookie at home vs the 31st ranked Miami pass defense

Running Backs Start Em Week 6

Jeremy Hill ( at BUFF)- The Bills have to start EJ manuel ( Tyrod Taylor OUT) so that could mean lots of turnovers, lots of time on offense for CINN- Gio should have a nice game as well

NYJ Chris Ivory (vs WASH)– Coming off their Bye week, Ivory is rested, at home and facing the bad WASH run defense

SF Carlos Hyde (vs BALT)–  the Ravens are not very good vs the run, and Hyde “should” feed off his nice 21 carries for 93 yards and TD Week 5

Sleeper – KC Knile Davis ( at MINN)- RB Charcandrick West is the better athlete but Davis, when given he opportunity in the past, has produced well, so he is Utter-Fantasy’s first choice- MINN is 29th vs the run

Sleeper- Lamar Miller ( at TENN)- Scary putting him here because he’s been so disappointing, however, the match up is very good and at new coaching staff should ride Miller

Wide Receivers Start Em Week 6

HOU DeAndre Hopkins ( at JACK )- The Jags are 28th vs the pass and w/ Julio hurting, Hopkins may be the best WR in the league right now

ATL L Hankerson (at N.O.)- Very quiet week 5, but Julio is banged up ( and did you know that Roddy White has only 8 receptions on the season?) The Saints are 32nd vs the pass

JACK A Robinson & A Hurns ( vs HOU)- Both are on fire of late- HOU is 27th vs the pass

BALT Kamar Aiken (at SF) – 9 targets Week 5- 4 reception for 78 yards. The #1 WR in BALT for Week 6- Steve Smith Sr. (back) was limited in Wednesday’s practice. Sf has the 31th worst Defense

NYG Dwayne Harris ( at PHIL)- Both WRs Odell Beckham and Rueban Randle sustained hamstrings injuries Week 5, so Harris’ fantasy stock rises considerably- He was already a nice part of the offense- PHIL has a the #7 Defense however- UPDATE: Rueban Randle is reportedly practicing Thursday

N.O. Willie Snead ( vs ATL)- Recommended Week 5 on Utter-Fantasy’s Waiver Wire suggestions- WEEK 5 WAIVER WIRE– 6 catches for 141 yards- Seems to be QB Brees’ go-to-guy of late

Sleeper- NYJ Eric Decker (vs WASH)- TD receptions in every game he’s played this season-

Tight Ends Start Em Week 6

NYG Larry Donnell (at PHIL)- Both WRs Odell Beckham and Rueban Randle sustained hamstrings injuries Week 5, and Donnell hauled in a clutch TD reception Week 5

SD Antonio Gates ( at GB)- The Packers are #1 vs the pass, but Gates will get receptions ( and perhaps a junk TD late)

Sleeper- N.O. Ben Watson ( vs ATL)- High scoring game- 36 yards and a TD Week 5- Also WR M Colston is OUT Week 6 so Watson’s targets should go up

Defense Start Em Week 6

CINN (at BUFF)- Buffalo is forced to start QB E J Manuel- ( QB Tyrod Taylor OUT) so the Bengals DEF makes an excellent play Week 6

CHI ( at DET)- The 0-5 Lions are playing their worst ball in years- QB Stafford had 3 INTS just 2 minutes in the 3rd qtr ( benched)- Do you think they’ve fixed what’s wrong in DET in a week?

Sleeper  NE ( at IND)- The Pats will find out if IND QB Luck is 100% or not

HERE’S A GREAT LINK TO ANALYZE DEFENSES- LINK

Quarterbacks Sit Em Week 6

DET M Stafford (at CHI) – DET is a total mess ( and HC J Caldwell stinks)

CLEV J McCown (vs DEN – Week 5 was a monster of a game for McCown ( 457 yards with 3 TDs ( one rushing)- He won’t come close to that vs DEN

NYJ Ryan Fitz (vs WASH)– I won’t under-estimate WASH pass DEF again Week 5- ATL M Ryan only 254 yards & 0 TDs .WASH allowing only 235 yds a game- 7 TDs total this season

QB Colin Kaepernick (vs BALT)- Having 1 decent game out of every 3- too inconsistent

Running Backs Sit Em Week 6

ALL DET RBs ( vs CHI)- HC J Caldwell is a terrible head coach. For fantasy owners, a team with 4 RBs is a team with none

WASH A Morris ( vs NYJ)–  The Jets are well rested from a Bye week, and they are #1 vs the run ( Morris hash;t done much anyways)

NYG Rashad Jennings( at PHIL)- There are too many RBs in NY getting touches and PHIL is #4 vs the run

Injuries-  to BALT J Forsett and JACK T Yeldon could have them sitting this week

Wide Receivers Sit Em Week 6

CLEV T Benjamin ( vs DEN)- No TDs since Week 3 and DEN has the #1 Defense

WASH P Garcon ( vs NYJ)– The Jets are the #2 Defense in the NFL and Garcon hasn’t passed 64 receiving yards since Week 1- You should have better options Week 6

SD Malcolm Floyd (at GB)- Facing the Packers Defense will be tough for SD Week 6- The only players I trust to produce are WR K Allen and TE A Gates

MIA Jarvis Landry ( at TENN)- Hard to sit one of your best WRs, but Landry has no TDs in 2015, and Miami will likely get back to the running game ( TENN 3rd vs the pass)

Tight Ends Sit Em Week 6

PITT Heath Miller (vs ARI)–  Few teams defend the TE position better than ARI. Miller only has 10 targets since Week 1

MINN K Rudolph ( vs KC)– The Chiefs have only allowed 1 TD reception to TEs all year

Defense Sit Em Week 6

DET Defense ( vs CHI)- Lions are playing too poorly to trust in any position

INDY Defense ( vs NE)- You can’t shut down the NE offense, you can only hope to slow them down some

WEEK 5 RANKINGS

NFL Waiver Wire Week 6

NFL Waiver Wire Week 6 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Bye Teams: Dallas-Oakland- St Louis – Tampa Bay

There’s not going to be a lot of searching for quarterbacks on the NFL Waiver Wire Week 6 because none of the Bye teams have high percentage owned QBs that need a waiver wire fill in. In case you do need one…..

Quarterbacks Waiver Wire Week 6

Note: MIA QB R Tannehill- MINN T Bridgewater- NYJ R Fitz and CAR Cam Newton all had Byes Week 5 and may have been dropped by necessity

JACK Blake Bortles- The Jag QB has another favorable match Week 6 vs Houston ( 26th ranked DEF)- In Week 5, Bortles threw for 303 yards and 4 TDs. He might be a better option for you week 6 if you have QB M Stafford or QB R Wilson who has struggled lately- UPDATE: Make sure he’s healthy enough to play Week 6 ( sprained throwing shoulder)

HOU B Hoyer- HC O Brien finally decided to officially name Hoyer the starter ( should have acted like a head coach and done this in September)

DAL Matt Cassel- Only in very deep leagues should you consider Cassel, but the DAL/Weeden affair will be over soon

Running Backs Waiver Wire Week 6

KC Knile Davis/ Ch West- A lot of chatter for West as the lead guy in KC, but he only has 12 carries total as an NFL player. When given he opportunity in the past, Knile Davis has produced well,  so he is Utter-Fantasy’s first choice. Regardless, it will be a more RBBC approach for KC going forward

BUFF Karlos Williams- Only owned 56% now in Yahoo leagues due to his concussion, but he will be a big part of the BUFF offense ROS- Note: He hasn’t yet been cleared to play Week 6

SEA Thomas Rawls- Dropped ( only 10% owned) because owners think RB M Lynch is coming back, and Lynch will eventually, but he won’t be 100%. Additionally, Rawls Week 5 performance ( 169 yards and 1 TD ) will get him plenty of playing time even when Lynch is back

NE Dion Lewis- He is available in a surprising number of leagues and has been an important part of the Pat’s offense all year

MIA Lamar Miller- A lot of disgusted FF owners moved on from Lamar but IMO…too soon. HC Philbin was fired ( about time) and I think new HC Dan Campbell will get smash mouth and back to basics….getting Miller running

BALT  Javorius “Buck” Allen- With RBs J Forsett injured (ankle) & Lorenzo Taliaferro placed on IR 4th rounder Allen could be the starter Week 6

DAL C Michael- The Cowboys losing streak is forcing HC Garrett to make changes- sleeper RB C Michael could take over soon at tailback- stash player…DAL has a bye Week 6

Other decent candidates- Check your league’s free agents and see if MIA L Miller, NYJ Ivory or CAR J Stewart were dropped due to the Week 5 Bye Week

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Week 6

NYG Dwayne Harris- Both WRs Odell Beckham and Rueban Randle sustained hamstrings injuries Week 5, so Harris’ fantasy stock rises considerably- He was already a nice part of the offense

ATL Leonard Hankerson- I have been writing this week after week and now the Falcons are “uncertain” if Julio Jones (hamstring) will be able to play Thursday night’s Week 6 game against the Saints. Only owned in 14% of Yahoo leagues

N.O. Willie Snead- Recommended Week 5 on Utter-Fantasy’s Waiver Wire suggestions- WEEK 5 WAIVER WIRE– 6 catches for 141 yards- Seems to be QB Brees’ go-to-guy of late

BALT K Aiken/ Chris Givens-  WRs Steve Smith (back) is due back soon, but WR Perriman isn’t. QB J Flacco needs weapons and they are Aiken and Givens

CAR Ted Ginn Jr- ( Week 5 was his Bye Week) Tough match up Week 6 ( at SEA ) but great ROS and 3 TD receptions in first 4 games

Other decent candidates-  GB Ty Montgomery- CHI Marquess Wilson

Tight Ends Waiver Wire Week 6

SD A Gates- Should have been grabbed last week- Only owned in 60% of most leagues

CLEV Gary Barnidge– On fire since Week 3

NYG Larry Donnell- The Giant’s TE had 6 receptions for 35 yards and a TD Week 5 and injuries to the Giant’s receiving corps will make Donnell even more valuable

Start Em Sit Em Week 5

Start Em Sit Em Week 5 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Like other fantasy prognosticators, below are my Start ‘ Em & Sit ‘ Em players, minus the obvious. ( No one needs to read that I think fantasy owners should start RB J Charles at home vs an atrocious CHI defense ) For the Record- I don’t claim to have anymore insight on the games than the fantasy league owners reading these, but I do enjoy sharing my “IMOs” on them, as well as reading yours-  Good Luck this week!

Bye Week- Miami- Minnesota- NY Jets- Carolina

Quarter Backs
Start ‘Em

PHIL Sam Bradford (vs N.O.) – The Saint’s QB might be healing up but the Saint’s dreadful defense hasn’t. QB Sam Bradford at home has his best match up all season

NYG Eli Manning (vs SF) – Between Beckham, Randle, Harris, Donnell, Jennings, Vereen and Williams…..Manning has a lot of weapons. He should carve up the SF 28th ranked pass defense

CHI Jay Cutler (at KC) – If Cutler can avoid his minimum of 1 INT a game, he should be a fantasy star this week. Teams are throwing all over the Chiefs this year

Sleeper- KC Alex Smith…..CHI is 2nd worst DEF in the NFL- Smith at home could have his best game- FUN game to watch

Running Backs
Start ‘Em

ST L T Gurley ( vs GB)- You can’t pass on GB ( 5th ranked defense vs the pass) but you can have some success running on them ( 31th ranked defense vs the run) so Gurley should get plenty of opportunities

BALT J Forsett (vs CLEV) – Thru Week 3 RB Forsett hadn’t topped 68 yards in any game ( 0 TDs)  In Week 4 he reminded us why we drafted him ( 27 carries for 150 yards). He still doesn’t have a rushing TD, but they will come. CLEV is 24th vs the run

ATL Devonta Freeman (vs WASH) –Even though WASH is better against the run ( ranked #7 in the NFL) you have to keep rolling with the hot hand of Freeman

TB Doug Martin ( vs JACK)- Not my most comfortable starter this week, but the match up is good and TB gave him 25 touches last week ( totaling 143 yard- 1 TD)  You should see the same formula Week 5

Sleeper – BUFF Anthony Dixon/ Dan Herron at TENN ( ranked #32 vs the run)    Sleeper– NYG Rashad Jennings vs SF

Wide Receivers
Start ‘Em

KC Jeremy Maclin (vs CHI)- LOVE Maclin at home this week vs the 29th ranked pass DEF Chicago Bears

HOU DeAndre Hopkins ( vs IND)- The HOU receiving corps is beat up badly ( WRs C Shorts and N Washington are both out for Week 5) so Hopkins will get a ton of targets

BALT Kamar Aiken (vs CLEV) – With WR Steve Smith shelved with a back injury, Aiken is thrusted into the #1 WR role ( he also produced well week 5- 5/77 yards and 1 TD)

CHI WRs A Jeffery/ E Royal ( at KC)- Both are banged up but expected to play. They both have an ideal match up vs a porous KC pass defense

WASH Pierre Garcon ( at ATL)- We know after 4 weeks that ATL can put up points- a lot of point, so WASH will pass plenty trying to keep up. QB K Cousins knows that Garcon is his best player- I expect 10+ targets week 5

Sleeper- SEA Doug Baldwin…..SEA is passing more trying to keep their RBs healthy

Tight Ends
Start ‘Em

CLEV Gary Barnidge (vs BALT)- He started his recent run vs OAK Week 3 ( OAK is worst in the league vs TEs) and has racked up 180 yards and 2 TDs Weeks 3 & 4. Now QB McCown trusts him and targets him

CHI Martellus Bennett- He could easily get 80+yards and a TD vs KC

DEN Owen Daniels ( at OAK)- From 5 receptions for 24 yards- 0 TDs in Weeks 1 & 2….. 7 receptions for 37 yards- 2 TDs in Weeks 3 & 4. QB Peyton Manning is playing much better starting in the shotgun. He will find Daniels more and you know that Peyton is aware of how bad OAK is vs TEs

Sleeper- HOU Garrett Graham….The HOU receiving corps is beat up badly

Defense
Start ‘Em

HOU (vs IND)- The HOU DEF will attack whoever starts for IND Week 5, either Luck ( injured shoulder) or Hasselbeck ( battling a virus). Gore hasn’t quite jelled with the Colts and has had fumbling problems- this all adds up to some turnovers by HOU

NE ( at DAL)- Considering who the Pats lost in the off-season, they are a very good defense. Should be a tough day for QB Weeden

JACK (at TB) – TB J Winston has 7 INTs so far this season, 4 of them coming in Week 4- He’s a rookie prone to mistakes and JACK will pressure him into more

NYG ( vs SF)- Facing perhaps the worst offense in the league and Kaepernick is on pace to absorb 56 sacks this season.

HERE’S A GREAT LINK TO ANALYZE DEFENSES- LINK

Quarter Backs
Sit ‘Em

OAK D Carr ( vs DEN) – Hopefully you have other choices than Carr this week because the Denver has the #1 pass defense

STL Nick Foles (at GB) – His schedule has been brutal and it doesn’t get easier Week 5 vs GB ( 5th ranked defense vs the pass )

DET Matthew Stafford (vs ARI) – You may have to start him, but I wouldn’t want to. ARI is the 3rd best DEF in the NFL and Stafford is struggling badly- Only 5 TD passes all season and none Week 4

QB Colin Kaepernick- 2 passing TDs in 4 games- The worst QB in the NFL right now

Running Backs
Sit ‘Em

ALL DET RBs- HC J Caldwell is a terrible head coach. For fantasy owners, a team with 4 RBs is a team with none

DAL Joseph Randle ( vs NE) – Belichick is going to force QB Weeden to beat the Pats threw the air. Additionally, Randle’s carries have declined every week from Week 2. In Week 4 he only had 11 carries

SF Carlos Hyde ( at NYG)- He’s done NOTHING since his Week 1 breakout game. SF knows that they can’t win without getting RB Hyde on track but doubtful Week 5 as NYG are #1 vs the run

Wide Receivers
Sit ‘Em

OAK Amari Cooper (vs DEN)- Should be a tough day for Cooper vs the #1 Defense in the NFL

CINN Marvin Jones (vs SEA) – Facing 2 of the best corners in the game, the Bengals are going to have tough time moving the ball through the air Week 5

SF Torrey Smith/A Boldin (vs NYG)- The SF offense is seriously so bad, that SF players could be listed in Sit Em every week until I get tired & bored putting them here

DET Golden Tate ( vs ARI)- Megatron has a way of getting some catches vs tough defenses, but Tate is averaging only 40 yards a game with 0 TDs this season

Tight Ends
Sit ‘Em

PITT Heath Miller (at SD) – PITT QB Mike Vick doesn’t even look at Miller. Since Roethlisberger’s injury, Miller has 5 receptions for a total of 33 yards

N.O. Ben Watson/ Josh Hill ( at Phil ) –Both have roles in the Saints offense, but they are too small of roles to score for fantasy owners

NFL Week 4 Panic or Dont Panic

NFL Week 4 Panic or Dont Panic by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

We are only past Week 4 so I truly hope I’m re-tracking my “Panic’ players after Week 5……..but until then….

PANIC!

QBs

DET Matthew Stafford- Week 4 Stafford recorded 24/35 for 203 yards and 0 TDs. He has only 5 TD passes this season and 0 games over 300 yards- DET HC J Caldwell fits right in as a one of the many terrible HC hires for Detroit- Sadly, Stafford should be strictly a #2 QB ( and only with a decent match up) but kept in 10+ team leagues

MIA Ryan Tannehill- Only 198 yards Week with 2 TD passes. MIA HC Philbin was fired ( LONG OVER DUE) Interim HC Dan Campbell however doesn’t give me a lot of confidence with his “I’m not saying we want dirty players, but we are going to walk that line” talk. The real trouble in Miami is their O-Line and that won’t be fixed in a week

MINN Teddy Bridgewater- On my “Panic” list very week so far- Bridgewater is on a Bye Week…which is a good time to cut him and not look back

Move on from- SF Colin Kaerpernick-TB Jameis Winston-

RBs

PHIL DeMarco Murray- I’ve warned about him since the trade- DAL had an O-Line that made him look great (which he isn’t)- He now doesn’t have that O-Line in Philly, he has to share w/ 2 other RBs and he’s not 100%- Trade him

All DET RBs- It is bad enough that the team runs a RBBC, but now the team is playing bad, led by a bad head coach and DET is 0-4

CAR Jonathon Stewart- He is what most of us thought he’d be! An average RB that will put up average stats and often be injured. Keep him if you must, but 62 yards a game and 0 TDs is what you should always expect ( on a Bye Week)

WASH Matt Jones- 18 total yards ( 0 TDs ) last 2 games- Was Week 2 a fluke? Panicking owners are starting to think so

WRs

Note: None of my “Panic WRs” rebounded in Week 4- WEEK 3 PANIC LINK

PITT Markus Wheaton- Injured Week 4 and the “talented” #2 WR is back from suspension- ( WR Martavis Bryant)- I’m dropping Wheaton in all leagues because I like WRs on the waiver wire better

SF Torrey Smith- QB Kaepernick might be the worst QB in the NFL right now- The only way T Smith is going to help fantasy owners is with flukey deep passes and MIGHT come once every 3-4 games- You cannot win fantasy leagues starting WRs like that

MIA Jarvis Landry- The trouble with Landry is that Miami has TOO many weapons ( which I warned about preseason – SEE ARTICLE ) and Tannehill/ MIA O-Line are struggling- It’s difficult to cut/trade away a guy you drafted so high, but one game over 100 yards and 0 TDs….just saying

N.O. Brandon Cooks- All I can say is that he has great match ups until his Bye Week ( Week 11)- Hopefully QB Brees is covering from his shoulder injury and that you start Cooks when you need to and he finally produces. Two more weeks of this 50 yard average- 0 TD stuff however and he’ll be cut by every fantasy owner

TEs

MIA Jordan Cameron- In the “Don’t Panic” section last week…Well, 4 bad weeks and now on a BYE Week-Here’s how bad the chemistry is w/ Tannehill- 17 targets in the past 2 weeks- 5 receptions

BALT Maxx Williams- Even with TE C Gillmore OUT and WR Steve Smith sidelined…..Williams could only produce 2/4 targets for 17 yards- Panic mode is over- move on

SF Vernon Davis- He should not be on anyone’s roster

DON’T PANIC!

QBs

BALT Joe Flacco- Weeks 1 & 4 were very bad for fantasy owners. The BALT WRs were weak to begin with and injuries to WR Perriman and Steve Smith have made the situation even worst. Help is on the way however, with the signing of WR Chris Givens and emerging WR K Aiken. ( Also, ST Smith is said to be back sooner than later )

PHIL Sam Bradford- Week 4 was game fantasy owners have been waiting for- 270 yards and 3 TDs. Bradford spread the ball around hitting 7 different receivers- Good schedule for the next 2 weeks

RBs

BALT J Forsett- Last week Forsett was on this list because he hadn’t topped 68 yards in any game ( 0 TDs) Week 4 reminded us why we drafted him ( 27 carries for 150 yards) He still doesn’t have a rushing TD, but they will come – Don’t Panic

N.O. Mark Ingram- Currently ranked as the 22 overall RB in the NFL, but he wasn’t the 22nd RB drafted in September- more like the 11th overall RB drafted….so we want more. Only topped 53 rushing yards in Week 4 (77) and has only 2 rushing TDs on the season but receiving yards are there and the big games will come

MIA Lamar Miller- Unlike the MIA QB and MIA WR who I doomed for the “Panic” sections above, I have faith that the new coaching staff’s main priority…..will getting RB Miller going- Don’t Panic yet

WRs

ARI John Brown- The preseason darling – SEE PRESEASON WEEK 2 REVIEW…who was drafted high in nearly every league, has disappointed greatly in 4 games so far. There is hope because QB C Palmer targeted Brown 10 times Week 4, more than anyone on the team

DET Calvin Johnson- Not one game yet over 83 yards and 1 TD on the season- Here’s the good news….DET finally get some home games ( 3 in a row) and Week 8 is at KC, who teams have thrown all over.    Don’t Panic

In the….I told you “Don’t Panic” Dept…..DAL Terrance Williams- (Week 4….49 yards a 1 TD)

TEs

DEN Owen Daniels- From a slow start ( 5 receptions for 24 yards- 0 TDs in Weeks 1 & 2) to much better ( 7 receptions for 37 yards- 2 TDs in Weeks 3 & 4) QB Peyton Manning is playing much better now that he’s no longer under center, but starting in the shotgun. He will find Daniels more and more – GREAT match up Week 5 vs OAK

WEEK FOUR RANKINGS

NFL Waiver Wire Week Five

NFL Waiver Wire Week Five by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Week 5 of the byes mean some important players to your fantasy football team may be off. Find your Week 5 fill-in players with your NFL Waiver Wire Week 5 options early in the week.

Bye Teams: Miami-Minnesota- NY Jets – Carolina

Quarterbacks Waiver Wire Week 5

CHI Jay Cutler- Cutler’s Week 3 injury had him OUT for only one game, but fantasy owner’s did not know when he would be able to come back so he was dropped by many owners ( only owned in 26% of Yahoo leagues now) Playing KC Week 5 , who are TERRIBLE vs the pass

PITT Michael Vick- Facing SD Week 5, QB Vick will have to have a great game to beat the Charge’s offense. SD does have the 28th ranked run defense so expect a ton of RB LeVeon Bell. Vick is still only owned in 18% of Yahoo leagues and is at least a fill for the Bye Week

JACK Blake Bortles- A favorable match Week 5 vs Tampa Bay, who make plenty of turnovers

Running Backs Waiver Wire Week 5

BUFF Anthony Dixon- With RB LMcCoy still shelved ( hammy) and RB Karlos Williams ( concussion) , a BUFF RB finds himself as a “Waiver Wire” priority- BUFF @ TENN Week 5- Titans are 24th vs the run ( 3rd vs the pass)

DEN  Ronnie Hillman- I’ve been predicting that Hillman will become the starter for DEN sooner rather than later for a while now- In my Waiver Wire Week 2 report-  LINK    ( Hillman Week 4- 103 yards and 1 TD-  CJ Anderson Week 4- 43 yards and 0 TD) Hillman is still only owned in 36% of yahoo leagues and thats way too low

SEA Thomas Rawls- A truly disappointing Week 4 for RB Rawls- SEA would not run him. Have to see what RB M Lynch’s status is Week 5 later in the week. Do not make RB Rawls a waiver wire priority

CLEV Duke Johnson- HC Pettine is as frustrating a HC for fantasy owners as NE HC Belichick is because he rotates RBs constantly and CLEV is a true RBBC team. Johnson had a good game Week 4 but he wasn’t the #1 RB- RB I Crowell was and Johnson points came from 9 receptions for 85 yards and a 34 yard TD pass- Don’t expect this often, if ever again

N.O. CJ Spiller- I am not a fan of Spiller, so I am reluctant to put him here, but in a Week with 4 Bye teams, owners in deep league could be in trouble- If you take a way that flukey last play TD in overtime Week 4 for Spiller, he would have needed with 28 total yards. Still, he will get touches Week 5

( See if RB STL T Gurley is available- owned in 87% of yahoo leagues )

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Week 5

ATL Leonard Hankerson- I have been writing this for weeks- Top pick up Week One

SD Dontrell Inman- Injuries to WRs M Floyd ( concussion) and St Johnson ( hamstring) let the door open for WR Inman Week 4 ( 3 catches for 88 yards) and likely a starter Week 5 vs PITT

BALT Chris Givens/ K Aiken-  Injuries to WRs Steve Smith (broken bones in his back) and B Perriman (knee) forced BALT to trade w/ ST L for WR Givens. Givens is a legit deep threat and should start immediately. I also like WR K Aiken- Week 4- 5 catches for 77 yards and 1 TD

N.O. Willie Snead- QB D Brees seems to have connected with WR Snead and Week 4 showed it ( 6/89 yards- on 6 targets) vs WR B Cooks who is suppose to be the #1 WR for the Saints (4/25 yards Week 4)

JACK Allen Hurns- If you took my advice Week 3 and picked up Hurns, you would have been rewarded with 15 targets for 11/116 yards and 1 TD- Not many owners did because still un-owned in 80% of Yahoo leagues

CAR Ted Ginn Jr- I also advised picking up WR Ginn Week 4  and still do- 2 TD receptions @ Week 4 ( Carolina is on a BYE Week )

( See if WR Michael Floyd is available- only owned in 36% of yahoo leagues )

other deep league candidates-  GB Ty Montgomery- NYG D Harris- BUFF P Harvin

Tight Ends Waiver Wire Week 5

BUFF Charles Clay- BUFF QB T Taylor has increased his looks for Clay every game….going from 4 to 6 to 7 to 13 targets in Week 4, and Clay already has 2 TDs

CHI Martellus Bennett- Cutler is back so TE Bennett is a must own again

WASH Derek Carrier- Washington likes TEs in their offense and QB K Cousins clearly likes throwing to TEs, so with the injury to TE J Reed, Carries becomes the starter

DEN Owen Daniels- NO TEAM has given up as many points to TEs as OAK has this year and you can bet QB Peyton Manning knows that- TE Daniels TD reception Week 4

Start Em Sit Em Week 4

Start Em Sit Em Week 4 By Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Like other fantasy prognosticators, below are my Start ‘ Em & Sit ‘ Em players, minus the obvious. ( No one needs to read that I think fantasy owners should start IND QB A Luck at home vs the Jaguars 28th ranked pass defense ) For the Record- I don’t claim to have anymore insight on the games than the fantasy league owners reading these, but I do enjoy sharing my “IMOs” on them, as well as reading yours  Good Luck this week!

Quarter Backs
Start ‘Em

BUFF Tyrod Taylor (vs NYG) – I’ll be honest, I haven’t been a believer in QB Taylor, but the way had passed all over a decent defense like the Miami Dolphins, he’s winning me over- 289 total yards and 3 TDs -Week 3

CAR Cam Newton (at TB) – Carolina is one of the top defenses in the NFL right now, so they will give rookie QB J Winston fits, and force turnovers. Cam will have the ball a lot in this game and put up points. TB is #16 vs the pass

CINN Andy Dalton (vs KC) – Teams are throwing all over the Chiefs this year. Week 1 it was Hoyer & Mallett. Week 2 it was Peyton Manning (who looked atrocious Week 1) and Week 3 it was Aaron Rodgers ( 5 TDs)

Running Backs
Start ‘Em

BUFF Karlos Williams ( vs NYG)- The Waiver Wire darling of Week 4 and for good reason. RB L McCoy can’t seem to get passed his injuries and RB K Williams is making a case as to why he should be the starter regardless

ARI Chris Johnson (vs ST L) – I liked his match up last week and he did not disappoint- 150 total yards and 2 TDs. He won’t do that this week vs STL, but he’ll make fantasy owners happy I think

ATL Devonta Freeman (vs HOU) –Very nice that he is at home Week 4 following his 141 yards and 3 TDs on the road Week 3.The Falcons have no reason to rush injured RB T Coleman back into the lineup, so he should sit, and Freeman should be a lock for 20 touches

IND Frank Gore ( vs JACK)- RB Gore finally got on track last week and he has a great chance to keep it up Week 4. FYI- IND started out with a slow 0-2 last year, and poured it on the rest of the way

Sleeper – Thomas Rawls- SEATTLE

Wide Receivers
Start ‘Em

NYJ Brandon Marshall (at MIA) – The Dolphins were suppose to have a scary defense in 2015, especially with the addition of Ndamukong Suh, but they are currently ranking near the bottom and 30th vs the pass- QB Fitz and Marshall will exploit this

CAR WR Ted Ginn Jr- TE Olsen is #1 target for QB Cam Newton and Ginn has become #2- 22 targets in the 1st 3 weeks- Any WR getting 7+ targets a game is worth starting, especially against TB Week 4

OAK Amari Cooper ( at CHI)- The Bear’s defense is dead last in the NFL. This one might end up looking similar to Cooper’s game 9/20/2014 vs the Florida gators ( 201 yards and 3 TDs)

HOU DeAndre Hopkins ( at ATL)- This has the makings for a high scoring event, and Hopkins is easily the Texan’s best weapon

DAL Terrance Williams (at N.O. ) – Williams had 0 receptions Week 3, but that will not happen vs a lousy Saints defense

Sleeper- GB TY Montgomery

Tight Ends
Start ‘Em

WASH Jordan Reed ( vs PHIL)-QB K Cousins’ go-to-guy. 26 targets so far

CHI Martellus Bennett- You may think about starting TE Bennett because of QB Clausen, but Oakland we have a lead early, QB Clausen will have to throw a lot just trying to keep up and OAK is the WORST defending TES ( and that’s an understatement)

Defense
Start ‘Em

Carolina (at TB)- No running game + rookie QB = nice day for CAR defense

Oakland (at CHI) – Very long day for QB Clausen

Dallas (at N.O.) – The Saints are 0-3 because they are terrible. Teams that are terrible make mistakes….a lot of mistakes

HERE’S A GREAT LINK TO ANALYZE DEFENSES- LINK

Quarter Backs
Sit ‘Em

SF C Kaepernick (vs GB) – This is a no brainer but I am putting it in anyways because I want to list Kaep’s stats from week 3- 9/19 for 67 yards and 4 INTS

STL Nick Foles (at ARI) – I  admit to being surprised by QB Foles’ poor start to the season and the ARI DEF Week 4 won’t make it any easier for the ST L QB- 2 TD passes TOTAL for 2015

MINN Teddy Bridgewater (at DEN) – Bridgewater is being dropped in nearly every fantasy league because he’s thrown only 1 TD this season. Denver has the #1 DEF

Running Backs
Sit ‘Em

MIA Lamar Miller (vs NYJ) – RB Miller had 2 great match ups Week 1 & 2 and did nothing in Week 3. NY Jets are #1 vs the run

TB Doug Martin (vs CAR) – He has yet to sniff the end zone and CAR is the #4 defense in the NFL

NYG Rashad Jennings ( at BUFF)- Tough defense to be playing Week 4- Rashad Jennings rushed only 11 times for 32 yards in Week 3 win and with RB Andre Williams and RB Shane Vereen eating up touches, it’s just a mess to completely avoid

Wide Receivers
Sit ‘Em

MINN Mike Wallace (at DEN ) – Fantasy owners might be tempted to start WR Wallace because it looks like WR Charles Johnson is OUT Week 4 and therefore more opportunities for Wallace. Wallace will disappoint

ALL Saint WRs (vs DAL – I seriously doubt that Brees plays this week, and if he doesn’t, QB McCown is to have only his 2nd start since 2011. McCown Week 3 had opportunities but he never really made them pay. Just five of his completions went for more than 15 yards

SF Torrey Smith ( vs GB)- One of the best teams ( GB) vs one of the worst teams ( SF) and worst QBs ( Kaepernick)….UGH

DET Golden Tate ( at SEA)- Megatron has a way of getting some catches vs a team like Seattle, but Tate is averaging only 50 yards a game with 0 TDs this season vs SD-MINN  and DEN

Tight Ends
Sit ‘Em

MIA  Jordan Cameron (vs NYJ) – 3 catches for 16 yards Week 3. Not what we expected when we drafted him…is it??? Jets are 2nd BEST vs TEs

MINN Kyle Rudolph ( at DEN )- The Vikings only hope in this game is to give the ball to RB Peterson 30-50 times

Defense
Sit ‘Em

DET (at SEA) – The Lions have no chance in this game

NYG ( at BUFF)- Rex has BUFF coached up well

NFL Week 3 Panic or Dont Panic

NFL Week 3 Panic or Dont Panic by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

It’s only Week 3 so I truly hope I’m re-tracking my “Panic’ players by Week 4 but until then….

PANIC!

QBs

SF Colin Kaepernick- Week 3- 9/19 for 67 yards – no TDs and 4 INTs. This isn’t “Panic ” mode…this is Re-Place” mode- HC Harbaugh is very glad that he is in Ann Arbor

PHIL Sam Bradford- His stats get worst week after week so far- His schedule does get easier however

MINN Teddy Bridgewater- On my “Panic” list last week and still on my “Panic” list ( and I still don’t like QBs who have to wear gloves ) I’d rather start NYJ R Fitz, A Smith and even Vick over Bridgewater

TB Jameis Winston- After three games, Winston has only 4 TDs on the season, with 3 INTs. You can find a better QB

RBs

TB Doug Martin- No defense in the NFL is going to be afraid of rookie J Winston beating them through the air ( the Saints probably should had been, because they stink)- Stack the box and keep Martin to around 50 yards. It will work all year

All DET RBs- It is bad enough that the team runs a RBBC, but now the team is playing bad, led by a bad head coach and facing a bad schedule. DET is 0-3

BUFF LeSean McCoy- Still hampered by a bad hamstring and RB Karlos Williams is taking full advantage of the situation- I predict RB Karlos Williams will out-rush McCoy this year for Buffalo

CAR Jonathon Stewart- Currently ranked 18th RB after 3 weeks with 0 TDs and a history of injuries. RB Cameron Artis-Payne will likely be the starter soon

CJ Anderson- On my list “Panic List” Week 2 and now Week 3- Hillman takes over soon

WRs

Note: 1 of my panic WRs rebounded Week 3- WR Rueban Randle ( NYG made a conscious effort to get Randle the ball and although he had nice Week 3 stat line, 41 yards & the TD came in trash time in the 4th qtr. The TD was on a fluke play )

CAR Devin Funchess- Panic time is over for K Benjamin-less Funchess- It’s time to drop him

PITT Markus Wheaton- He was terrible for fantasy owners when the best QB was starting. Now with Vick under center, Wheaton’s value drops even more- He’s off my teams

SF Torrey Smith- QB Kaepernick might be the worst QB in the NFL right now- The only way T Smith is going to help fantasy owners is with flukey deep passes and MIGHT come once every 3-4 games- You cannot win fantasy leagues starting WRs like that

GB Davante Adams- WR James Jones is doing what we all thought Adams would be. Adams also is struggling with a reoccurring ankle injury- You can’t drop him right now, but you can panic- hold him out of one ups until we see something- only 9 catches so far in 2015

TEs

PHIL Z Ertz- You never know who a QB is going to trust and be comfortable throwing to. If 3 games is out indicator, QB Sam Bradford isn’t looking at his TE. Ertz is averaging less than 3 receptions a game, and less than 25 yards a game

SF Vernon Davis- DROP HIM

SD Ladarius Green- He’s injured and TE Gates will be back Week 5

DON’T PANIC!

QBs

IND Andrew Luck- It may be comforting for you to know that the IND Colts started 2014…..0-2 won Week 3 -finished the season 11-5. In 2015-  the IND Colts started 0-2 and won Week 3.  Luck started out slow but will pour it on soon

DEN Peyton Manning- HC G Kubiak started Manning out under center 30% of the time Weeks 1 & 2- Well that didn’t work- Now Manning is primarily in the shotgun and he can still pick defenses apart- If anyone could turn it around, it was Peyton

RBs

BALT J Forsett- He’s a very good player and BALT has an easier schedule for the next 3 weeks- Hopefully they will get a lead for once and rely on the running game. Week 3 the Ravens threw 49 passes compared to 18 rushing attempts. WR B Perriman coming back will eventually  help Forsett also

WASH Matt Jones- Did you over zealous a bit on the Week 3 Waiver Wire getting Matt Jones? I don’t think so. As a matter of fact, if M Jones had bot fumbled his end zone TD run, it would had been 3 straight weeks of success

SEA M Lynch- It’s a long season and Beast Mode will get it going…IF….the news back this week on his hamstring MRI is bad news

WRs

IND TY Hilton- Did you know that TY’s first TD pass in 2014 didn’t come until Week 6- Big games are coming, “Don’t Panic”

DEN E Sanders- You drafted this guy high, so you want BIG production. HC Kubiak started Manning out under center 30% Weeks 1 & 2- That didn’t work!- Manning is primarily in the shotgun now which will help WR Sanders

DAL Terrance Williams- 0 receptions Week 3, but as the Cowboys #1 Wr now, I doubt that ever happens again, even with QB Weeden under center

TEs

MIA Jordan Cameron- Too gifted an athlete not to be a bigger part of the Miami’s offense. Don’t start him yet, but don’t drop him either-

NFL Waiver Wire Week Four

NFL Waiver Wire Week Four by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Week 4 of the byes mean some important players to your fantasy football team may be off. Find your Week 5 fill-in players with your NFL Waiver Wire Week 4options early in the week.

BYES- TENN-NE

Quarterbacks Waiver Wire Week 4

PITT Michael Vick- Big Ben is OUT for a minimum of 4 weeks ( it will be longer)- Pittsburgh has lots of weapons for QB Vick- maybe better than he’s ever had. He will posy nice fantasy stats

BUFF Tyrod Taylor- I’ll be honest, I haven’t been a believer in QB Taylor, but the way had passed all over a decent defense like the Miami Dolphins, he’s winning me over- 289 total yards and 3 TDs -Week 3

NYJ Ryan Fitzpatrick- Fortunately one of my leagues does not penalize for INTs, but most do. If this bearded chap could bring down the number of INTs, he’d be owned more

JACK Blake Bortles- He’s not going to win many games for the Jaguars, but we don’t care about that. We care about fantasy points, and unlike QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bortles doesn’t throw a lot of INTs…..5 TDs so far, 3 INTs

Running Backs Waiver Wire Week 4

BUFF Karlos Williams- RB LMcCoy may struggle to stay healthy all year. RB Karlos Williams, in McCoy’s place, isn’t struggling. 12/110 yards and 1 TD Week 3

DEN  Ronnie Hillman- I’ve been predicting that Hillman will become the starter for DEN sooner rather than later for a while now- In my Waiver Wire Week 2 report- see LINK   It might be due to an injury or lack of production by CJ Anderson, but Hillman is only owned in 20% of yahoo leagues and thats way too low

SEA Thomas Rawls- How much of RB Rawls 16 carries for 104 yards were because Seattle was playing the Cutler-less Bears, or because RB Lynch couldn’t play due to injuries? HC Pete Carroll isn’t going to tell us, but we do know that Lynch has taken a pounding for a long time, and there are currently multiple things hurting him- His back…his calf…and now his hammy- Lynch owners need to find roster space for RB Rawls

DAL L Dunbar- PPR leagues especially- You never know who a new QB ( Weeden) is comfortable throwing to…usually it’s a player that isn’t a starter either- In QB Weeden’s 1st game as the DAL starting QB, he targeted Dunbar 10 times for 100 receiving yards

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Week 4

IND Donte Moncrief- Still available in 67% of Yahoo leagues

CINN Marvin Jones- I’ve been low on Jones because most of his success came in one 4 TD game back in 2013….but he seriously has become a part of this CINN offense

CAR Ted Ginn Jr- 4 catches for 93 yards in Week 3- CAR QB hasn’t many options so Gin will likely get a ton of targets this season

NYG Rueban Randle- The Giants said they were going to get the ball more to WR Randle and in this game they clearly did. A warning however….Randle can disappear from games like your son at chore time….so be careful relying on him for fantasy wins despite this good game-  7/116 and 1 TD ( which was a fluke catch BTW)

JACK Allen Hurns- JACK QB B Bortles is becoming a capable quarterback and will be throwing  a lot this year because JACK will almost always be behind in games- Hurns is averaging 5 targets a game- Week 3 2/70 yards and TD

GB Ty Montgomery- If WR Davante Adams misses any time ( ankle)…WR Montgomery will fill in- 2/14 yards – 1 TD week 3

other deep league candidates-  DEN WR Norwood……..BUFF P Harvin/ C Hogan especially with BUFF WR Sammy Watkins OUT

Tight Ends Waiver Wire Week 4

WASH Jordan Reed- How much does QB K Cousins count on TE Reed in this offense? How about 26 targets so far in only 3 games- TE Reed does need more TD receptions to be a game-changer

BUFF Charles Clay- BUFF QB T Taylor has increased his looks for Clay every game….going from 4 to 6 to 7 targets in Week 3, and Clay already has 2 TDs

CHI Martellus Bennett- Bennett may have been dropped once QB Clausen took over for the injured QB Cutler, but CHI plays OAK Week 4…..who have given up TE Eifert -104/ 2TDs Week 1,  TE C Gillmore -88/ 2TD Week 2 and TE G Barnidge 105/ 1TD week 3

BALT- Maxx Williams- The #1 TE in the NFL Draft- TE C Gillmore (calf) is OUT so Maxx should be a consideration

Start Em Sit Em Week 3

Start Em Sit Em Week 3 By Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Like other fantasy prognosticators, below are my Start ‘ Em & Sit ‘ Em players, minus the obvious. ( No one needs to read that I think fantasy owners should start the Seattle Defense at home vs a Cutler-less Chicago Bears team ) For the Record- I don’t claim to have anymore insight on the games than the fantasy league owners reading these, but I do enjoy sharing my “IMOs” on them, as well as reading yours  Good Luck this week!

Quarter Backs
Start ‘Em

CAR Cam Newton (vs N.O.) – If you saw the Saints Week 2 game, you saw a rookie QB ( Jameis Winston)…on the road….put up star that topped QBs Russell Wilson and Carson Palmer- The Saints defense STINKS ( and so does their offense)

MIA Ryan Tannehill (vs BUFF) – If you don’t remember what QB Tom Brady did vs BUFF last week, I am happy to remind you….466 yards and 3 TDs ( 0 INTs)- Tannehill isn’t Brady but he is very accurate and running the ball against that BUFF DEF will be tough

DAL Brandon Weeden (vs ATL) – Weeden will be more efficient than most think and with a week to prepare vs the #24 defense ( ATL)  he’ll put up decent numbers, and a couple trash TDs at the end ( hopefully very few INTS)

Running Backs
Start ‘Em

WASH Matt Jones ( at NYG)- Great start to season- a home run hitter and a great match up Thursday

ARI Chris Johnson (vs SF) – I like his match up and the ARI offense overall- SF ranked #30 defense

SD Melvin Gordon (at MINN) –16 carries for 88 yards Week 2, but he is yet to get into the end zone this year- I believe that streak ends Week 3

CAR Jonathon Stewart (vs N.O.) – The Saints defense is atrocious, they are 30th against the run. This is the game Stewart’s been waiting for, if he’s healthy and starts

IND Frank Gore ( vs TENN)- One of my favorite moves of the off-season, but Gore is yet to have a good game. I have to believe the Colts will turn this around, force rookie M Mariota  into mistakes and have the ball a lot

Wide Receivers
Start ‘Em

IND Donte Moncrief (vs TENN) – Solid since getting more playing time. TY Hilton is not 100% and Andre Johnson is struggling

DAL Terrance Williams (vs ATL ) – New QB Weeden has had more time practicing with Terrance Williams ( now the #1 WR in DAL) since joining the Cowboys, so it makes sense that they would have chemistry

BALT Steve Smith ( vs CINN)- Keep riding Smith while he’s fresh

SEA Doug Baldwin (vs CHI) – The Bears are dead last in the NFL for defense and the Seahawks are 0-2. Seattle will make a statement in this game with a lot of points- this is the riskiest of the WRs list in Start Em

CAR WR Ted Ginn Jr/ Corey Brown ( vs N.O.) NO Brees and a bad Saints Defense

Tight Ends
Start ‘Em

GB Richard Rodgers (vs DET ) – GB QB A Rodgers is missing his best weapon, and his comfort level with WE Davante Adams isn’t there like it was in the playoffs last season. Also, RB E Lacy is dinged up so QB Rodgers is relying on his TE more- 3 catches for 23 yards- 1 TD Week 2

DET Eric Ebron ( vs GB)- TD receptions in each game this year, and DET will likely be behind early in this game- QB Stafford is beat up, but he usually plays hurt and will likely look for Ebron often under pressure

WASH Jordan Reed ( at DAL)- 7 receptions Week 1 ( and a TD) and 6 receptions Week 2. QB K Cousins counts on him

Defense
Start ‘Em

Carolina (vs N.O.) – You have to start the Panthers DEF vs a struggling Saints team and QB Drew Brees is hurting

New England (vs JACK) – 9th vs the pass. The Pats will 1) stop the run- 2) confuse JACK QB Bortles into mistakes

HERE’S A GREAT LINK TO ANALYZE DEFENSES- LINK

Quarter Backs
Sit ‘Em

DET Matthew Stafford (vs DEN) – Stafford isn’t a guy that you drafted to sit the bench…I get it…..but IF he plays, he’s not 100% and playing the #1 defense in the NFL. 3 INTS already in 2015. This week consider other options

STL Nick Foles (vs NYJ) – You are sitting Foles because STL Nick Foles (vs NYJ)

MINN Teddy Bridewater (vs SD) – The MINN defense is not very good so SD will put points. After establishing the run for the best part of 3 qtrs, the Vikings will be force to pass and it won’t be enough- Bridgewater Week 2- 14/18 for 153 yards

Running Backs
Sit ‘Em

MIA Lamar Miller (vs BUFF) – RB Miller had 2 great match ups Week 1 & 2 and did nothing- Week 3 is a bad one (and unless this is Seinfeld’s Bizzaro Miller and always does the opposite of what he should do ) Miller should struggle Week 3

TB Doug Martin (at HOU) – He had one good game in the preseason which made his ADP soar. He has yet to hit the end zone and I doubt Houston lets him in Week 3

Wide Receivers
Sit ‘Em

N.O. Brandon Cooks (at CAR ) – It pains me to list him here, but what has he done??? AND he is facing the #2 defense in the NFL vs the pass AND QB Brees is OUT- Back up QB L McCown will start- last NFL pass was in 2011)

PITT Markus Wheaton (at STL) – Wheaton just doesn’t jell with QB Big Ben the way WR Martavis Bryant does- everyone thought he would ( including me) but he doesn’t. You may have to start him and I hope I’m wrong about sitting him- Through 2 weeks so far- 122 total yards – zero TDs

KC Jeremy Maclin (at GB ) – If you started Maclin Week 1 & 2, you wish you hadn’t. Maybe he finally has a good week, but I am not gambling my fantasy week on a “maybe” QB A Smith throws his 1st TD pass to a WR since 2013

PHIL Nelson Agholor ( at NYJ)- No TDs….No Chemistry with QB Sam Bradford…No chance he starts for me

CAR D Funchess ( vs N.O. ) Even against the Saints I’m not starting him. ( He isn’t even on any of my teams anymore)

(…I also don’t trust MIN WR Charles Johnson-2/27 yds Week 1- 3/ 10 yards week 2)

Tight Ends
Sit ‘Em

NYG Larry Donnell (vs Wash) – WASH is average defending tight ends, but Donnell is only averaging 25 yards a game after 2 weeks and NYG QB Eli Manning isn’t playing very well- He has gotten a TD Week 1 & 2, so in a TD only league he may be OK

BALT Crocket Gillmore ( vs CINN )- Great Week 2, but that was against Oaklnd…the WORST teams the TE position. This week is CINN, who are 5th best vs TEs

Defense
Sit ‘Em

KC Defense (at GB) – Houston and Denver both lit up KC’s secondary this year…QB A Rodgers is licking his chops

N.O Defense ( at CAR)- If Cam had better WRs, this would be a laugher

Fantasy Football Panic or Dont Panic 2

Fantasy Football Panic or Dont Panic 2 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

It’s only Week 2 so I truly hope I’m re-tracking my “Panic’ players by Week 3- until then….

PANIC!

QBs

MINN Teddy Bridgewater- 384 yards and 1 TD in 2 games- Unfortunately…many 2nd year QBs regress ( and I for one have never liked QBs who have to wear gloves ) I’d rather start NYJ R Fitz over Bridgewater right now

IND Andrew Luck- You have to be panicking after his performance Monday night vs the Jets, and although he will rebound….this is a great reminder for you to WAIT on a QB in fantasy drafts. QBs Luck & Rodgers, after Week 2, are not even in the top 10 of overall QBs.

DEN QB Peyton Manning- Peyton redeemed himself in Week 2, throwing for 256 yards and 3 TDs, but keep in mind that they were playing KC who were torched by the combo of HOU QBs Hoyer & Mallett Week 1- Find a replacement because Peyton is going to wear down fast this season

TB Jameis Winston- He may have looked good to you Week 2….but my mother would look good as a QB vs that N.O. defense- You should be panicking having Winston facing a HOU DEF Week 3

RBs

PHIL DeMarco Murray-  I warned back in the summer- In DAL 2014 , the O-Line was so good that your grandmother would have racked up 1000+ yards- Not the case in Philly and he shares the ball with 2 other backs- Panic

WASH Alfred Morris- It’s not that RB Morris has lost anything, it’s that RB Matt Jones is just TOO good not to get touches. ( and when he does, he makes the world take notice) Morris owners should be panicking

DEN C J Anderson- GB QB Aaron Rodgers has out-rushed CJ Anderson- for whatever reason…rarely does the starting RB for the Broncos end up being the starting RB for the Broncos after Week 6

CAR Jonathon Stewart- You can’t start this guy. 17 carries for 62 yards Week 2….18 carries for 56 yards Week 1- Panic and start someone else

DAL Joseph Randle- I liked him a lot prior to Week 1. Since then….Dez is OUT, Rome is OUT and it appears TE Witten may be OUT Week 3. Panic!

WRs

Note: 3 of my panic WRs rebounded Week 2 ( Torrey Smith- Malcolm Floyd, Odell Beckham and to a lesser extent DeM Thomas)…and I’d prefer it that way…
Of those that rebounded, the one that still worries me is Torrey Smith who will live and die by the deep pass, and QB C Kaepernick isn’t playing like he can always deliver it

CAR Devin Funchess- Panic time is over for K Benjamin-less Funchess- It’s time to drop him

TB Mike Evans- Zero receptions Week 2. Until you can see some consistency and chemistry between Winston and Evans…I don’t see how you can risk your fantasy week starting him yet

NYG Rueban Randle- What isn’t out this guy that he can keep his “believers” believing in him? I don’t get it and I don’t want him…ever

DET Golden Tate- Fantasy owners beware- QB Stafford is beat up ( & there’s even talk of Stafford sitting a couple games) Combine that with DET’s brutal schedule continuing….home vs DEN..at Seattle and home vs Arizona

….bonus panic PITT Wheaton- all N.O. WRs

TEs

SEA Jimmy Graham- I have warned since the spring that SEA is a running team, and Graham was brought in to block and as an “occasional” red zone target. You can’t trade or drop him, but you can panic

BALT Maxx Williams- The #1 TE drafted in April, I really thought QB Flacco would like him and make Williams a huge part of the BALT offense- Not the case at all

DON’T PANIC!

QBs

SEA Russell Wilson- On my Don’t Panic List last week and still on it. Seattle was forced to start the season with 2 away games, but Week 3 they are finally home vs the hapless ( and Cutler-less) Chicago Bears

STL Nick Foles- Week 2 Foles recorded a sad 17/32 for 150 yards and only 1 TD, playing away at WASH. He has 3 of his next 5 games in ST L and will get better with his offense

RBs

SEA  M Lynch- Seattle has lost their identity, but a cure for that is finally playing at home ( 2 games on the road) vs the Chicago Bears and new CHI QB J Clausen

MIA Lamar Miller- I wrote Week 1….( 13 carries for 53 yards) He had better games in the preseason in only a couple quarters played- Now in Week 2…10 carries for 14 yards- Keyshawn Johnson says …Give Lamar the damn ball

IND Frank Gore-IND should have looked at tape from Week 1 and said  “Never again!”….Instead…Gore looked strong and explosive monday night and only got the ball 8 times in the 1st half and 7 times in 2nd. INBD played TENN and JACK in the next 2 weeks and if they don’t establish the run, fantasy owners should panic

WRs

BUFF Sammy Watkins- QB Tyrod Taylor has only been the start for 2 games, so getting comfortable is taking time, but Week 2 was a good sign for Watkins and Tayor- 6 catches for 60 yards and a TD ( and the schedule 4 of the next 5 weeks is favorable

SD Keenan Allen- Zero TDs so far, and a pathetic 2 for 16 yards in Week 2. Although there are a lot of weapons in SD, Allen is still the #1 WR there and the TDs will come

GB Davante Adams- He was huge for the Packers in last year’s playoff run and with WR J Nelson gone for the season, Adams will have big games Rodgers- Don’t Panic yet

TEs

IND D Allen- Allen had zero receptions in Week 2 and Indy lost- not because of it, but it contributed- Indy has to get a lot things back on track

CAR Greg Olsen- Caught 6-of-14 targets for 70 yards Week 2- the TDs will come

NFL Waiver Wire Week 3

NFL Waiver Wire Week 3 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Next week will begin the NFL team Bye Weeks. With many players off in the coming weeks, it will be important to your fantasy football teams to find players on the NFL Waiver Wire Week 3 and in other weeks, particularly quarterbacks, to stay competitive in your fantasy football leagues.

Quarterbacks Waiver Wire Week 3

ARI QB Carson Palmer- Many fantasy owners have to replace DAL QB Romo, CHI QB Jay Cutler & perhaps D Brees- QB Palmer is currently the #12 overall QB in the NFL after 2 weeks

NYG Eli Manning is currently the #13 overall QB in the NFL after 2 weeks

CINN QB A Dalton is currently the #14 overall QB in the NFL after 2 weeks

NYJ Ryan Fitzpatrick has weapons and recorded 244 yards and 2 TDs Monday night vs IND

other deep league candidates- M Mariota- J Winston

Running Backs Waiver Wire Week 3

ATL Devonta Freeman- RB Tevin Coleman ( broken rib) who had a nice start to the season, is out for likely a couple weeks, so RB D Freeman is now the starter

WASH Matt Jones- He can’t be ignored anymore. The WASH staff threw support behind RB Alfred Morris, but RB Matt Jones talent makes him a guy that must get touches- Currently the #8 overall QB after 2 weeks

GB James Starks- Reports Monday are that RB Eddie Lacy’s sprained ankle was “very weak and sore”

DEN  Ronnie Hillman- After 2 Weeks, GB QB A Rodgers has out rushed DEN RB CJ Anderson. Anderson & Hillman have been splitting carries so both should be owned

ARI Chris Johnson- HC B Arians has suggested that eve when RB ellington gets helathy, CJ2K may still be the starter

NE Dion Lewis- RB Lewis got a lot of action Week 2, but classic HC Belichick, he may again Week3, may not touch the ball until Week 7- No one knows

other deep league candidates- SEA Fred Jackson- BUFF Karlos Williams

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Week 3

IND D Moncrief- He should have been added last week if you had a chance- See Week 2 Waiver Wire– Grab him now if you can- TY Hilton re-injured himself Monday night- ( Same thing goes for GB WR James Jones)

CLEV T Benjamin- He clearly must start this list because of his success for the past 2 weeks, but even CLEV had WR T Benjamin as their #5 Wr on their depth charts. Still, 204 yards and 3 TD in 2 weeks

SD- Stevie Johnson- I always say…”I’ll believe it when I see it”- Well I saw QB Rivers favor Stevie Johnson over Malcolm Floyd, at least in Week 1 & Week 2

ATL Leonard Hankerson- #3 WR and good chemistry with QB M Ryan- A good grab for deeper leagues-WR Hankerson caught 6/11 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in Atlanta’s Week 2 win over the Giants

SEA Doug Baldwin- This player will have bad games, but if the match up is right vs a good run defense, WR Baldwin will be a plug-in player- Week 2- caught seven passes for 92 yards and a touchdown

NYJ Quincy Enunwa – A desperation grab but it looks like WR Eric Decker ( knee) will miss a week and perhap more- WR Enunwa was targeted 3 times Monday

other deep league candidates- NYG Dwayne Harris ( following WR Preston Parker’s release)-IND Philip Dorsett- DEN WR Norwood- BUFF P Harvin

Tight Ends Waiver Wire Week 11

GB R Rodgers- With Jordy gone and other WRs nicked up, TE Rodgers is seeing targets and TD opportunities

DAL G Escobar- A TD catch in Week 1 and almost one in Week 2

CLEV Gary Barnidge- Consider this……CLEV plays OAK Week 3…and Oakland has given up 192 and 4 TDs to CINN TE Eifert Week 1 and BALT C Gillmore Week 2 ( just a thought…and who heard of C Gillmore before he played Oakland)

Start Em Sit Em Week 2

Start Em Sit Em Week 2 By Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Like other fantasy prognosticators, below are my Start ‘ Em & Sit ‘ Em players, minus the obvious. ( No one needs to read that I think fantasy owners should start QB Drew Brees this week at home vs Tampa Bay  ) For the Record- I don’t claim to have anymore insight on the games than the fantasy league owners reading these, but I do enjoy sharing my “IMOs” on them, as well as reading yours  Good Luck this week!

Quarter Backs
Start ‘Em

Matthew Stafford (at MINN) – SF’s running game embarrassed the Vikings Monday night ( RB C Hyde-168 and 2 TDs) so Minnesota will make stopping run a priority, thereby opening more opportunities for Stafford

Carson Palmer (at CHI) – Recommended last week, and Palmer had a great game -19/32 for 307 yards and 3 TDs- Love him vs CHI

Nick Foles (at WASH ) – Foles was the #6 QB for Week 1, having better stats than A Rodgers, Brees and Roethlisberger- WASH won’t be able to slow the ST L offense down

Running Backs
Start ‘Em

Chris Ivory (at IND) – A great recommendation last week and a good one this week- No RBBC for the Jets which is fantastic for fantasy owners and the Colts currently have the #31 defense

Mark Ingram (vs TB) – There barely isn’t a Saint I wouldn’t recommend the week. Saints are 0-1, so they are mad. TB QB J Winston will make a ton of mistakes again in this game so N.O. will have the ball plenty-

Danny Woodhead (at CINN) –Woodhead touched the ball 19 times Week 1- that’s not a 3rd down back, that is someone who is intricate in the San Diego offense

Lamar Miller (at JACK) – Fantasy owners worried about Miller because of Week 1 shouldn’t be. Miami almost lost Week 1 ( if not for a 69 yard TD punt return by J Landry, they probably would have) Miami didn’t use RB Miller or TE J Cameron enough last week and they will fix that

Wide Receivers
Start ‘Em

Golden Tate (at MINN) – Another epic collapse by DET Week 1, up 21- 7 nearing the end on the 1st half. When Golden Tate is the #77 WR for Week 1, you are going to lose. Getting Tate the ball will be as much a priority …as CAR getting the ball to TE Olsen

Steve Smith (at OAK) – Baltimore had a brutal match up for their very first week, traveling to Denver. It was an ugly game by both teams, and BALT is on the road again….but Oakland isn’t Denver. Smith doesn’t have a lot of great games in him, especially in the 2nd half of this year, so he has to make this one of them

Terrance Williams (at PHIL ) – A disappointment Week 1, but then, Dez was playing week 1. Week 2 Dez isn’t playing, and in a high scoring game with Philly, Williams will get plenty of opportunities

J Cotchery (vs HOU) – Houston can stop the run, and Cotchery is the most familiar and perhaps reliable WR on the Panther roster for Cam Newton- Cotchery Week 1 had six targets- 45 yards and 1TD

Brandon Coleman (vs TB) – #17 WR for Week 1 and the Saints are playing the Bucs

Tight Ends
Start ‘Em

Ladarius Green (at CINN ) – One of my bad “Sits” from Week 1- I wrote “I have never seen the same chemistry between Ladarius Green and QB Rivers….as QB Rivers has with TE Antonio Gates- It’s always going to happen, but never does”     Well…it did

Dwayne Allen ( vs NYJ)- With WR T Y Hilton dinged up and WR Andre Johnson struggling a bit, Luck will get Indy’s first win by getting Allen the ball more

Defense
Start ‘Em

Tennessee (at CLEV) – No one is afraid of CLEV QB Manziel beating them thru the air- TENN will stack the box and chase Manziel all day

Carolina (vs HOU) – Even the head coach of the Texans talks about how bad the HOU running game is, so CAR will pressure new QB R Mallette into mistakes

New Englands (at Buffalo) – The Pats defense won’t be listed on the “Start Em’ list often, but they are Week 2 vs BUFF and their inexperienced QB T Taylor-

HERE’S A GREAT LINK TO ANALYZE DEFENSES- DEF LINK

Quarter Backs
Sit ‘Em

Kirk Cousins (vs ST L) – He’s the best QB on their roster, but with WR DeSean Jackson out….like Week 1,  I don’t see a big day for Cousins in Week 2

J Manziel (vs TENN) – I’ve seen Manziel ranked as high as #22 ( Yahoo staff) ahead of Foles-Fitzpatrick-Alex Smith and I’ll let you know when I stop laughing

Colin Kaerpernick (at PITT) – At home…..versus Minnesota….Kaep put up only 17/26 for 165 yards and 0 TDs. Pittsburgh away isn’t easier, it’s harder

Running Backs
Sit ‘Em

Jonathon Stewart (vs HOU ) – In a fairly good match up vs JACK, Stewart managed Trent Richardson-like stats…18 carries for 56 yards. I think J J Watt and company keep him to even less Week 2

Any CLEV RB (at NYJ) – Because I seriously doubt HC Pettine ever let’s any RB on that roster get 20 touches- He’ll rotate in backs all day, diluting all their value

T J Yeldon (vs MIA) – Yeldon, 12 carries for 51 yards Week 1- The Jags will be down early in this one and will have to give up on the run….( and Suh & company aren’t going to let them run regardless)

Latavius Murray (vs BALT) – It looks like OAK QB Carr is going to play- If he does, BALT is going to make him prove that he can throw the ball- If he can’t, BALT is going to make OAK QB McGloin prove that he can throw the ball- either way, rough day for Murray

Wide Receivers
Sit ‘Em

Pierre Garcon (vs ST L ) – Some might believe that the targets DeSean Jackson would have gotten in this game, will now go to Garcon. ST L HC Fisher is a smart man and he will take Garçon out of this game, and try to take RB A Morris out as well- TE J Reed will likely get a lot of short, emergency dump off passes

Torrey Smith (at PITT) – Same write up this week as last week…WR Smith is only going to put big numbers for fantasy owners…if he can get deep and QB Kaep can get the ball to him- So far this preseason Kaep has missed badly every time.

Jeremy Maclin (vs Denver ) – Maclin had one good preseason game which sent his ADP ( average draft position) soaring. Fantasy owners who were betting on the same vs HOU Week 1 got cooked. Maclin is one of my ” I’ll believe it when I see it” guys- until then, I am not letting him hurt my chances so I’m benching him- No KC WR has caught a reg season TD pass since 2013

Nelson Agholor ( vs Dallas)- In Week 1- PHIL S Bradford targeted WR J Matthews 13 times- WR R Cooper 4 times- WR M Austin 3 times- WR J Huff 3 times and WR N Agholor only 2 times- Agholor’s early success in preseason came when QB Sanchez was under center- For whatever reason.,Bradford/Agholor haven’t clicked yet- sit him until they do

D Funchess ( vs HOU)- Not filling in for Kelvin Benjamin yet- at all

Tight Ends
Sit ‘Em

Charles Clay (vs NE) – NE is going to give the inexperienced BUFF QB T Taylor all he can handle and I think HC Rex Ryan knows that, so handing the ball off 30-40 times is probably what BUFF is going to do, even if they are behind

Maxx Williams/ C Gillmore ( at OAK)- CINN TE T Eifert torched the Raiders for 104 yards and 2 TDs, so naturally fantasy owners think TE Williams ( or TE C Gillmore) should as well. Maybe one will, but who?

Defense
Sit ‘Em

Dallas Defense (at PHIL) – The Dallas offense will struggle without Dez. The Eagles will try to capitalize early, then manage the clock and QB Bradford. Dallas has a good defense , but I like other match ups better

Cincinnati ( vs SD)- The Chargers will put up a lot of points in this game IMO

NFL Waiver Wire Week 2

NFL Waiver Wire Week 2 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

In two weeks begins the NFL team Bye Weeks. With many players off in the coming weeks, it will be important to your fantasy football teams to find players on the NFL Waiver Wire Week 2 and in other weeks, particularly quarterbacks, to stay competitive in your fantasy football leagues.

Quarterbacks Waiver Wire Week 2

ST L Nick Foles- If he stays healthy, he will out-perform at least 33% of the current starting NFL QBs- only owned in 13% of Yahoo leagues

KC Alex Smith was the #19 overall QB in 2014 despite not throwing a single TD pass to a WR ( and something he still hasn’t done) but he has more weapons this year- only owned in 20% of Yahoo leagues

other deep league candidates- BUFF Tyrod Taylor- NYJ Ryan Fitzpatrick

Running Backs Waiver Wire Week 2

DEN R Hillman- RB C.J. Anderson may have suffered a sprained toe in the Broncos’ Week 1 win over the Ravens and is being evaluated. Hillman should be owned regardless

SD Danny Woodhead- Still showcased in a big way in SD’s offense

ARI Chris Johnson- HC Arians said Chris Johnson would be Arizona’s “lead dog” if Andre Ellington (PCL) is forced to miss any time

BUFF Karlos Williams- It’s looking less and less likely that RB L McCoy can handle a large load Week 2, if he plays at all (hamstring) -K Williams was the leading rusher in BUFF’s Week 1 win over the Colts, carrying 6 times for 55 yards and a TD

PITT DeAngelo Williams- Week 2 starter due to LeV Bell’s suspension

ST L Benny Cunningham- Not a long term solution to any roster- but while L Bell is out, or if you had Ellington- 122 total yards Week 1-  RB Tre Mason’s status for week 2 still in doubt

NE Dion Lewis- RB L Blount is back from suspension, but Lewis should see plenty of action on 3rd downs

other deep league candidates- BUFF Karlos Williams

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Week 2

GB James Jones- We could have guessed that QB A Rodgers would feel comfortable with WR Jones immediately. Jones is our NFL Waiver Wire Week 2 top wide receiver to pick up

DAL- WRs C Beasley and D Street get thrusted into the starting line-up with the unfortunate injury to Dez B. I like Beasley over Street

CAR J Cotchery- Not the most glamorous name on waivers, but he is going to get targets-receptions and TDs in Carolina

IND D Moncrief- WR TY Hilton has a knee bruise and WR Andre Johnson struggled Week 1- WR  Donte Moncrief caught 6-of-11 targets for 46 yards and a touchdown in Indy’s Week 1 loss to the Bills

SD- Stevie Johnson- I always say…”I’ll believe it when I see it”- Well I saw QB Rivers favor Stevie Johnson over Malcolm Floyd, at least in Week 1

N.O. Brandon Coleman- 6’6″ Coleman secured 4-of-7 targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s Week 1 loss to Arizona-Coleman played in all three-receiver sets alongside Brandin Cooks and Marques Colston

WASH Andre Roberts- WR DeSean Jackson (hamstring ) is out 3-4 weeks

other deep league candidates- DEN WR Norwood- BUFF P Harvin

Tight Ends Waiver Wire Week 2

SD Ladarius Green- Owners have been waiting for QB Rivers to involve Green in the offense- Ladarius Green caught 5-of-6 targets for 74 yards and a touchdown Week 1 against the Lions

CINN Tyler Eifert- Granted, he won’t be facing OAK every week, but 9 grabs for 104 yards and 2 TDs is a lot-  owned in 86% of Yahoo leagues

DAL G Escobar- A TD catch in Week 1 and Dez is out 4-6 Weeks

ARI D Fells- I am not so confident about Fells, because WR Michael Floyd (hand) played just nine snaps Week 1

TB Austin Seferain-Jenkins- Before you start thinking that ASJ is the next Jimmy Graham- know that 84 of his 110 yards (and 1 TD) came in the 4th qtr when TENN had the game won
