Waiver Wire Week 9

NFL Waiver Wire Week 9

NFL Waiver Wire Week 9 by Utter-Fantasy Writer & Illustrator Doug Bowles

Week 9 will likely be a good week to improve your fantasy football team with NFL Waiver Wire Week 9 pick ups, due to all of the unfortunate injuries. There’s also been an interesting trade between DEN and SF. With 6 teams on Byes Week 9, the waiver wire will be especially important.

Bye Teams Week 9:  DET- KC- ARI- SEA- BALT- HOU

Quarterbacks Waiver Wire Week 9

CHI Jay Cutler (at SD) – In Week 8, Cutler threw for 211 yards and had 2 TDs on the day (one rush)….good for 19.54 fantasy points. SD is near the bottom in defenses

JACK Blake Bortles (at NYJ)– The match up may look lousy, but if QB Geno Smih starts ( QB R Fitz injured)- the Jags could have the ball a lot

OAK Derek Carr (at PITT)- Fantasy owners of M Stafford, A Smith, C Palmer, R Wilson, J Flacco and B Hoyer could all be searching for a Bye fill in for Week 9- Teams have more success passing on the PITT DEF, than running on them

Running Backs Waiver Wire Week 9

PITT DeAngelo Williams- The #1 RB pick up this week. While RB L Bell was on suspension Weeks 1 & 2, DeAngelo Williams proved he could fill in more then adequately ripping off 224 total yards and 3 TDs

CHI Jeremy Langford-
Matt Forte suffered what is believed to be an MCL injury and could be out multiple weeks ( updates later in the week)

HOU Alfred Blue-
Named the starter for Week 8, Blue ended with 19 touches for 72 total yards vs TENN. Week 9 Blue gets the 2nd worst defense in th NFL ( the Saints)- A Blue only owned in 75% of leagues

N.O. CJ Spiller- N.O. RB Khiry Robinson was carted off the field with a right leg injury Week 8 game against the Giants. Robinson may have broken his leg. I am not a fan of Spiller ( a talented player like P Harvin- C Patterson etc…who never delivers)…BUT…his touches should increase significantly, and he does have 2 TDs on the season

DAL D McFadden- Getting the bulk of the carries in DAL, and even against a stingy SEA defense managed 113 total yards. The Philly defense won’t be much earlier Week 9 however

GB James Starks- The Packers are rotating Lacy and Starks- Tough match up for both RBs Week 9 at CAR

Deeper Leagues- DET Joique Bell- Like the NY Giant’s RBBC situation, there is a lot of backs touching the ball in DET, so Bell is poor play likely every week- 7 carries for 56 yards Week 8

Deeper Leagues- TENN David Cobb-

Deeper League Options for SF RB filling in for RB Hyde-Bush & M Davis- Pierre Thomas

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Week 9

SD Malcolm Floyd- With Keenan Allen out indefinitely with a kidney injury, Malcolm Floyd goes to the top of the WR waiver Wire adds

GB Davante Adams– Back Week 8, but only had 2 targets. The entire GB Packer team was humiliated by the DEN Broncos Week 8, so getting QB A Rodgers (only 77 pass yards) back on track with his weapons will be needed vs CAR Week 9

HOU N Washington- Recommended Week 8 Waiver Wire- LINK, and produced with 74 receiving yards and 1 TD. Great match up week 9 vs N.O.

BALT Kamar Aiken- WR Steve Smith’s season ending injury Week 8 puts WR Aiken into the #1 WR spot in BALT

ST L Tavon Austin- After a slow start, fantasy owners are finally benefitting from starting Austin- 327 total yards in the past 4 games with 5 TDs- Only owned in 22% of fantasy leagues

Other decent candidates- deep leagues

CHI Marguess Wilson- WR Eddie Royal left Sunday’s game with a knee injury, so Wilson moves again into the starting line up. In Week 5 Wilson had 6 catches for 85 yards and 1 TD, so he’s been a part of the offense before

WASH DeSean Jackson- the “expectation” is Jackson (hamstring) will return this week against the Patriots

Tight Ends Waiver Wire Week 9

DEN TE Vernon Davis- No one is likely happier than Vernon Davis right now. Fantasy owners should tone down expectations of the new TE for a while, but he is a must add for down the road

WASH Jordan Reed– QB K Cousins has always looked for his TEs, but WASH has had trouble keeping their TEs healthy. Reed is back and had 72 yards – 2 TDs Week 7

PITT Heath Miller (vs OAK)- Back on the fantasy radar now the Big Ben has returned- ( 13 targets- 10 catches/ 105 yards Week 8)   PITT plays OAK Week 9- #1 worst team vs the TE

ATL J Tamme- With WR L Hankerson OUT Week 8, the biggest beneficiary offensively wasn’t WR Roddy White, but TE Tamme-  10 catches/ 103 yards and 1 TD. Tougher match up Week 9 however vs SF

TEN  Delanie Walker– Walker led the Titans in receiving as Zach Mettenberger’s primary check down Week 8. Walker caught 6 passes for 62 yards in Titans loss to the Texans. BYE WEEK 9
